A buddy of mine in college had a Keg-orator in his apartment with C02. He used to go somewhere and either get it filled or swapped, I forget, but it was cheap and lasted a long time! Kinda like a propane swap for a grill. I think exploding is the last thing you would have to worry about. It becoming a projectile, or worse, the valve getting sheered off and it becoming a torpedo... THAT you might want to worry about  I'd strap it down good to the floor!

I have the $50 compressor from Pep Boys (same as the famous "Checkers" compressor) mounted under my passenger seat and hard wired to a switch. Air hose runs under the carpet to a dash gauge and the tank in the back.

I'm currently working on an engine mounted York compressor though, and I'll give details if I ever finish the project. ;)

Found this after doing some more looking. Very good read. He even talks about using these cool "scuba skins" to improve the appearance of the tank. If we get 10 guys who would buy one, we could do a custom "LOST" design as well.

I'm in! Gonna check out my local welding shop next week to see if I can come up with a setup.

I have an on board air setup that I use a QuickAir 2 air compressor...I brought a K&N FIPK and with the extra space where the old air filter box was, I mounted it there...

The compressor that I mounted is identical spec-wise to the Viair 400 (2.54cfm, 33% duty cycle,) and cost $60 instead of $220.

WHY BUY ANYWHERE ELSE?
WE'LL BEAT ANY DELIVERED PRICE! CALL TOLL FREE 1-800-710-9939.

The Beverage Factory offers only brand new aluminum Co2 Tanks. We do not sell reconditioned steel tanks. Every Co2 cylinder is produced from high strength aluminum alloy 6061-T6. These tanks are popular because they are not as heavy as steel tanks and do not rust. A carrying handle is installed on 10, 15 and 20 lb. cylinders only. The service pressure is up to 1800 PSI/124 BAR with a test pressure of 3000 PSI/207 BAR. These cylinders are stamped with required U.S. Department of Transportation and Transport Canada Markings. The 320 Valves are CGA approved, and have a male thread for Co2 Regulators.
5.5" Diameter
18.25" Height
1800 PSI
CGA-320 Valve
Good for 5-7 Kegs

5 lb. Aluminum Co2 Tank
$55.00

Found this online @
http://www.beveragefactory.com/draftbeer/air-tanks.shtml

Brand new tank for $55 sure sounds better than the approx $300 the 4wd places sell them for.
Of course u gotta add the hose/fittings (see below)

Here's the regulator the off road places use ($39.95)
http://www.offroadtuff.com/CO2Regulators.htm
Image

add 20' of flex hose $36.50 (expensive, hose is available cheaper but this place also sells the regulator so one stop shopping)
Image

So:
Tank $55
Reg $40
Hose $37
Air chuck $5
Shipping $15

And Voila! a full system for under $150 brand new
Now we get that guy to make us lost wrap graphics for $20 or so and we have a cool setup!
