I used the method posted in this thread for testing the joints. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... php?t=4348

2004 Liberty Sport 2wd 24k miles light offroading, little mud, and no water crossings.
Driver side has noticeable movement
Passenger side has little to no movement

2005 Liberty Renegade 4wd 10k miles light offroading and no mud or water crossings.
Driver side has no movement
Passenger side has little to no movement

I will check the joints from time to time and post the results here.

Jeepster,
the lowers on my 04 were replaced at 18,425.... Lt. off-roading, no water, no mud, no rocks, well maybe just a little.

The lowers on my '05 with 26000 are pretty bad. I took it in for replacement and they found the uppers to be bad also. They are bad enough that you can hear them shifting when stopping and starting. :(

Only sparingly. I have about 1/4" of up and down movement on the passenger side lbj.

I also submitted a claim with NHTSA compaining of this obviously poor design.

My 04 made it till 49500 with hardly any offroading to speak of maybe 150 (not so rough) miles total. Passenger side really, really bad , drivers very slight movement. But everyone needs to know to check them at every oil change or at least every 5/6000 miles. I have told so many people about this but most just say "oh I think they are OK" Oh well we will keep trying to inform the uninformed with the LOST knowledge!
