Don't forget, most Toyotas sold in the USA are made in the USA.

Nothing more to say....except that production and QC may have changed with the American factories.

NEW YORK -- Toyota is recalling 2.3 million U.S. vehicles to correct sticking accelerator pedals, the latest in a string of quality problems that have bedeviled the Japanese automaker.

The recall includes the 2009-2010 RAV4, the 2009-2010 Corolla, the 2009-2010 Matrix, the 2005-2010 Avalon, the 2007-2010 Camry, the 2010 Highlander, the 2007-2010 Tundra and the 2008-2010 Sequioia.

Toyota Motor Corp. spokesman Brian Lyons said the recall is due to the vehicles' pedal mechanism becoming worn and, in some cases, stuck.

The recall comes just months after Toyota issued a larger 4.2 million-vehicle recall because of pedals getting stuck due to insecure floor mats.

I doubt if they are insecure. If so, we must investigate this new lifeform called Floor Mats.

I could care les about consumer reports lists. I remember how bad they tore apart certain cars that proved them wrong in the long run. Every DSM I have owned and my Jeep today does this. My jeep may need a window regulator, but at least its reliable in where it counts and more.

Im curious about the JK comments though. I have always loved them and am currently waiting for the diesel version to come here to replace my liberty in 5 or so years. Could you explain your issues with it more in depth?

The on-site Command/Control structures of the Honda plants in America are Japanese, not American. That is also true of the G.M. D-max plant, which is actually Isuzu ( Fuji Heavy Industries). I am pretty confident that Toyota's American plants follow in this same model.

I'd certainly bet that the design team that came up with the faulty pedals is Japanese and in Japan. I'd also be willing to bet that the faulty pedal design extends to the B.S. floor mat story.
