The last three fill ups (two different stations) the gas pump does the auto turn off then burps out gas. I read about one KK needing a new gas tank. Also talked to a wrangler owner who is getting a new tank under warranty for a similar issue. Is there something cheaper I should check first. The metal fill tube does seem flimsy it moves when the nozzle is resting on it. Is it something you can even replace? Could there be a vent blocked?

I imagine you get a few replies to this posting because it's a common problem.

I believe it's the gas tank filler neck, it's too narrow and sometimes the gas pump shuts off prematurely during fill up. If you try to "top off" the tank you wind up with gas on your shoes. But I'm afraid I don't have a solution for you. You'll just have to grin & bear it.

I simply rock my jeep a couple times during the fill up. It may look silly, but it keeps my shoes smelling better!

It has only happened once to me but that is when I was filling up and had it on the fastest fill notch on the handle. Since then when filling I always stop filling and then click it on the lowest notch or fill it the rest of the way by hand, no more burps of gas coming out.
