For 2 reasons...
1. for a jack b/c when I lift her, stock will not work anymore.

2. for winching.
and there is my question...
I know winching with it is slow and takes a ton of work, but I am not getting money for a winch for quite some time.
So those of you that have tried winching with it... spill your stories.
Also, would this be everything that I need to winch with the hi-lift?

Any good, worth the money?

Just remember that you need a spot for the jack to hook into, stock bumpers will not work nor will stock rock rails
Lot of aftermarket rock rails won't work that well

Using a HiLift as a winch works ok if you need to pull yourself off of a thing and a foot or so would make a big difference. It's a bit of a drag if you're stuck 20' in a 40' long mud bog though. I have a winch and I still carry the gear as a back up.

I believe that the HiLift although slow and strenuous is a much better idea to have than those portable winches which have been known to seriously eff peeps up.

If you didn't have an aftermarket bumper or rails, then what could you do bc I also want a hi-lift for changing tires.....

I used a HiLift before I had any aftermarket bumpers. I used one of those wheel hook deals they sell and a jack stand.

Yeah, pretty much the Wheel Hook Deals (i'm pretty sure that's the official name) plus jackstand are the only option if you don't have aftermarket bumpers or rock rails. Hi-lift works well with the ARB bumper and Boulder Bars, though. :)

If you just want to change tires, a block of wood to put under the factory jack is all you need. Don't even need that for the rear.

I'm also thinking about getting a Hi-Lift, but mainly for recovery purposes since I don't plan on investing in an after market steel bumper and winch. I figure it's either a Hi-Lift, or a heavy duty come-along, and I think the Hi-Lift would be more versatile, and probably safer.....

For normal jacking like tire changes on the side of the highway, just keep a chunk of 4x4 or a couple pieces of 2x6 under the seat with the stock jack. Like mentioned above, just set the stock jack on that and you are good to go. But don't let that hamper your purchase of a hi lift. I have a hi lift, it comes in handy for a lot of things, I have used it to pull my jeep, lift a shipping container to put it on skids, tighten fence, pull t-posts etc. Just remember to listen for the click both up and down as you jack with it. The handle can get away from you, split your chin and knock you clean out.
Atwoods and Tractor Supply carry both Hi lifts and farm jacks in 48 and 60 inch versions and are reasonably priced. This way you get instant gratification and don't have to jack  with shipping. These stores are also a great source of giant d rings, hooks, recovery straps, drop hitches etc.

:2cents:

Congrats! I won't tell you how much they are at Atwoods...

Pretty sure you can fit the hi-lift under the back seat if you want to keep it off the roof or the back bumper and out of the weather. Mine is in the weather, but I just spray the moving parts with WD-40 or silicon spray or what ever I have handy every so often.

Well I actually only paid $0.69 all together, because I had free amazon.com gift cards in the amount of $130.
I don't feel bad if I paid a little more, and I didn't pay for shipping because of free super saver shipping, and they both have been marked as shipped already!

all thats good to have but the first time that you use the highlift to get yourself out of a situation youre gonna want a winch cause its either gonna not work or be a royal pain in the arse.

Good deal, you should do an official test for us. I can't see myself ever buying a winch but this may be worth the money.

Can you use the front the rear hitch as a mount point for the hi lift?

sport, that is how I plan to lift it up, and I am not worried about it.
I just don't have enough for a winch... and so a hi-lift will work fine. you have to remember, I live in OKLAHOMA and there is not really enough to drive around here other than county roads... lease roads, etc. but when it rains it is fun red dirt boggin!
