Twice this weekend the check engine light (looks like the outline of an engine block) came on. Both times the transmission refused to shift out of 2nd. The second time I had to stop and let the KJ sit for while. Both times the Jeep had been in very wet conditions, heavy rain with water pooling on the road, and numerous shallow stream crossing. Any ideas?

Ok with the KJ off turn the key on three times fast and push the trip-odometer. You should see a code come up. write the code down, you may see several, and once its done reading the codes it sez dONE.

Look into the tech section, there are several posts with code listings, this is a start. If you don't get a code, I will need to guess on something else.

Thanks, Al

I found the problem. It's with the Transmission Control System.
