While working on a license plate and light mount (to go with my almost completed custom bumper) this evening, until well after dark. I keep a hiker's type headlamp in my Jeep, along with a "regular" flashlight, the batteries were dead in my hiker's light, and the flashlight wasn't very convenient while needing to have both hands free. As I checked fit and clearance I kept having to remove my spare, and mount. Getting a 31x10.50 onto the spare mount while trying to hold a flashlight was a pain. I have flipped my spare mount upside down, and added two nuts onto the bottom studs in the tailgate, so my rear glass will clear my spare; that puts one stud on the spare mount at the top with two at the bottom. I got the idea to replace one of the lug nuts on the spare carrier with an open ended lug nut, and apply a bit of glow in the dark paint to the end of the top stud in the tire carrier. It's nothing ground breaking, for sure, but just a little something that could make a tire change in the dark a bit easier...
