So, I'm watching NFL on TV and just a bit ago a commercial comes on for the new 4-Door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon... and it's cruising through the city. What?! I think Jeep has strayed from their reputation of great off-road vehicles and they are now trying to appeal to the "Urban" crowd (nothing against people in cities, my family is from Philadelphia). I don't know what's up with that. Glad I got my KJ while I did... I don't know what the future holds for the Jeep brand...

Just remember, most Jeeps never stray off pavement. That is actually a good thing for those that buy used as they can get a pristine 4wd that has probably never even been put into 4wd or taken in the dirt. They really should be showing the 2wd models though for street related commercials. Hopefully sales will rise due to the 2wd models and allow them to keep offering decent off road worthy vehicles. Did you ever catch some of the Very lame Liberty commercials that came out? Boy were some of those bad.

I've never seen a street driven commercial for the KJ. Only off-road types. The guy stopping in the dirt and curiosu and cautious about the pavement he came upon was interesting. Then he crosses the pavement slowly and goes back to flying down the dirt land.

Ain't nothing made me wonder more than seeing a Grand or KJ with bling-bling rims and low rider tires. But then again, the city roads can be burtal. To each his own...

However, for me noth'in says sexy more than a set of black steelies on a jeep

I seen that one.. But didn't she like run over a pot hole or something? I'm sure in most peoples minds, having 4wd, 2 inch lift and winch is needed now days traveling around on pavement.

Yeah, I think she hit a pothole and a puddle.
I will say that driving around on pavement in my town sure has gotten dangerous but not due to the bad roads just the bad drivers.

The worst Liberty ad I saw was when it first came out.....in 2002.....it was a silver limited with a couple in it driving around the city....the one guy had long dreadlocks, and the music was all urban and ghetto and drum and bassy and this Liberty is fully chromosexualed out.....when i first saw it I nearly spat out my drink and thought 'What the heck kind of Jeep is that" cuz I'd never heard of or seen the Liberty up until then!

Yikes....our Libertys would choke to death if they ever saw that commercial.

The new unlimited is going after the hummer crowd, as an urban status symbol. The unlimited even favors the hummer to a degree, Jeep is changing and not for the good. I loved the looks of the pre 05 GC, but the new one looks to edgey, it's not smooth and refined like the old one. I thouht It would grow on me after awhile, but no luck, after 2 years, I still don't like it. The only new jeep I like, is the comander, it looks like a jeep, if it just didn't have the durango dash board, they look good lifted. Our current kj is very unique looking, there's no mistaking it, when you see it comming down the road. I don't see why we need a little comander like the kk. Jeep is becomming a cookie cutter vehicle from dodge. The new wrangler isn't bad, it just doesn't have an engine. Jeep would of done better to carry over the 4.0 awhile longer, rather than put that gutless 3.9 v6 into it. All the test I've read so far, say's the motor is the weak link. The 4.0 v6 in the nitro should of found it's way into the wrangler as well. All of those who are concidering a new wrangler, I would wait, there's has to be a better motor comming, jeep isn't that stupid, or are they ?

I cannot stand the direction DC is taking Jeep in. They are completely ruining the Jeep heritage of being a capable off road vehicle. They are killing it!

The Compass is the worst thing that DC could have done to the Jeep name. That thing is so un-Jeep it is not funny! Where's it's trail rated badge? It is a freakin car! It should be taken off the Jeep line and given to Chrysler or Dodge if they want something that class.

The Patriot is a Compass in Jeep clothing. The Patriot at least looks like a Jeep. However, it is still not trail rated (that I am aware of). It is a car on slight steroids.

I hate the "urban" ads. Jeep ads in the past have been pretty creative....but the Compass ads, and that urban Wrangler ad are the worst! It sucks.

I do have a new respect for the Grand cherokee after the New England International Auto Show I attended. They had a demo where they were showing the Grand Cherokee ability to flex...it was pretty awesome.

Still....I really do not think they are headed in a good direction. I think that they should work on making 4x4s more fuel efficient, without compromising performance. They need to work on the technology for engine building.

I am glad I have my 03 Liberty! I would not trade it for anything. I sat in the new Libertys...they are kinda uncomfortable compared to mine! I like my seat design! Also, how do you all who have the manual tranny drive that thing? My bf drives manual all the time, and he had a hard time with it! I had an impossible time with it! It wouldn't go into the gears like normal cars...you really had to fight it!

Don't forget, "Trail Rated" is new - 2003 or 2004. Yes, we all know Jeeps before the badge were trail capable, but be careful with facts and gimmicks. Trail Rated badges are a gimmick.

Jeep should only be for trail capable vehicles and not cars.

Next up, Land Rover building cars, then Hummer, Pinzgauer, Peterbilt, and Kenworth.

I'll probably be looking at either an FJ Cruiser or Toyota 4Runner as my next vehicle. If the H3 comes out with a bigger engine I would consider that as well. I really doubt that a Jeep will be on my short list.
