How about this for a bad stealership experience.
Something went wrong on a Saturday night while running a quarter mile at Rockingham which is about 500 miles from where I live. The motor shut down a little more than 3/4 the way down the track. It would restart, but shook while running, and would die if you let it get under about 1000 rpm. Took it to the 5 star dealership there, and asked them to check to see if I just did some valve damage, and it could be fixed fairly easily there, or if I needed to move up the planned rebuild of the motor by 2 months, in which case I would have a truck come pick it up. After laughing at me and my misfortune, they said the block was cracked and the heads were destroyed so it was not rebuildable. I had already had to stay in town an extra day, so it was Monday and they said they could have a brand new long block with a 3 year warranty installed and ready for me to pick up on Thursday. When I called them on Thursday afternoon to see about driving out there to pick it up over the weekend, they said good news and bad news. Good news was the heads were fine, just needed some internals replaced and needed to be machined. Bad news, they had just taken it apart and figured that out. Thursday, the next week, when I called them, they said that the B&G computer must have "partially failed" because the motor was skipping on all cylinders and had no power. I mentioned that it sounded like they built the timing wrong, and it was impossible for the computer to do that, but they wouldn't budge. I overnighted the stock ECU to them for 10 am delivery Friday morning. Friday afternoon, I found out the tech working on my Jeep didn't come in that day. When they finally started working on it the next week, it still ran just as bad, and another tech there told me the first one had built the timing completely wrong. On Friday of the third week, they told me they had test driven it 50 miles, had detailed it, and everything was great. A friend of mine and I headed towards Rockingham around 11:00 pm Friday night after working all day. We drove all night, had a little breakfast, and were at the dealership when they opened. The Libby was outside, and filthy. I popped the hood, and everything was filthy under the hood too. The air filter for the FIPK was bent up, and the intake was installed wrong. I started it up, and it ran so rich that you could see the exhaust from 100 ft away on a warm July morning. I looked under the hood again, and noticed the the nitrous nozzle was still in the intake tube, with no hoses connected to it so it could pull in unfiltered air during their 50 miles of test driving. They brought the Jeep back into the service bay and started fixing some of the problems while I went to talk to the service manager. He informed me that they had put a used short block in it with no warranty at all, and the price was within a few dollars of the brand new longblock because of all the labor they did. After an extremely heated argument with the manager of the dealership, who obviously didn't realize how heavily armed us KY boys usually are, I made them give me a 1 year warranty on the motor, refund the labor, and I took the short block which wasn't cracked and was rebuildable. I ended up using part of the labor money to get my mechanic to fix the transmission housing that they bent when they installed the motor.
