I searched but didnt find anything on this, has anyone had any issues with wobble below 30mph? It feels almost as the truck is going over a bump, which would directly lead to me thinking tire issue, like flat spots or bubbles or something, but it isnt. I already took the KJ in to the dealer for it yesterday and they put on all new tires saying that the ones on there had flat spots. I have less than 1000 miles on the KJ so far. But now that they gave me new tires it shakes at high speeds...? Anyone have a clue what could be causeing the low speed issue? I doubt that the new tires could have flat spots too. Thanks in advance

What tire pressure are you running? When I put my Revos on I was running way too high because I was used to the LT rated tires on my old Pickup Truck - 43 psi.

At 43 psi I picked up every microscopic ripple in the asphalt pavement surface in this Jeep. Now I've reduced to 38psi-Front and 35psi-Rear and it's much smoother.

Well the dealership is the one that filled them and I didnt have time to check the pressure out yet. Im sure the dealership filled them to the sidewall pressure indicated. But the problem is really pronounced between 10-25MPH then it smooths out untill like 80 then it shakes like an unbalanced tire.

So it still does it after they changed the tires? Or now it just does it at high speeds? Could be a bent rim, those tires suck anyway, could just be that.

Yeah it does it still between 10-25mph, the high speed thing is just an unbalanced wheel i think. Im not worried about the high speed thing. Its the wobble that bugs me. I know the tires suck, i wish they would have called me before they put them on because i would have just got them to apply the tire credit to some new AT's or MT's. oh well. But Im now worried that the problem is not going to go away with tires, due to its still happening with brand new ones.

Exactly! If they put brand new tires on and charged you for them, they had better make it not suck!

no charge for me, Its under warrenty i just got it a few weeks ago. I called the guy back about it and he said his tech wants me to drive it and show him. So i guess back to jeep i go. Just doesnt make since, its an up and down wobble not side to side, but it stops after 30mph, could a CV do that? If it was a CV then i would have thought it would keep doing it up in speed.

No a cv would not do that. It would shake like crazy when you get going faster though. If its up and down then the only thing i know of is a bent rim like a said, but a good tech would catch that if they balanced the tires?

Ill suggest the tech rebalance and look at the rims , that would explain the crazy shaking at high speeds too.

If it wobbles at low speed and 80+ mph have them check the tie rods. I had an Intrepid that did that. I thought it was the tires too but when I had the brakes serviced the tech noticed the inner tie rods were shot. I'm not saying that is the reason but it could be a problem.

Maybe they got in a hurry and didnt balanced your tires,do they have new balance weights on it, or left the old balance weight on.any combination of these will do that

could be deffective tires.

My MTRs do it at low speed, the guy at Predator 4WD told me it was because the front tires were cupping, and needed moved to the rear to flatten them out.

Ok well after a long stay at the dealership and talking to every tech and manager there here is the verdict.

BAD TIRES who would of thunked it, everyone knows how awsome the wrangler ST's are you know, turns out they had mounted the day I came in 3 sets of them before they "passed" the road force tests and the balance tests, and the tires they put on were barley passing. The tech that put them on said that he got tired of swaping them out and knows how bad they can be. So after explaing how dissatisfied I was about them giving me back crapy tires and telling them my plans for the jeep and how much I hated the fact the jeep would make a 4x4 with less than even ok STREET tire and doesnt even offer 4x4 tires we came up with a plan, the service managr and I called GoodYear and explained to them about how much their product sucks and they decided that due to the over welming amount of data to prove the tires were bad they would give me what I wanted in exchange... free of charge... anything.... well its knida hard to pick a "good" GoodYear tire so I went with a set of brand spanking new 245/75/16 Wrangler MT/Rs , I know these come on the Rubies so figured they would be able to get them in fast. Infact Im going back today for them to install them. The techs that did the work were so thrilled they said they would make sure that the MTR's would be perfect and make sure that they could "cure" any fitment issues for me. Also seems that the new tires are going to be covered under the warrenty and the jeep will show that it was equiped with the MTR's, so no warrenty issues.

I guess for now I'll be happy , dont know how I'm going to like the MTR's but its WAY better then the ST's, dont you agree.

WOW  .

Man, you really made out like a bandit. You really couldn't have picked a better Goodyear tire - the MT/Rs are probably their only good truck tire. And for free? darn.....nice job!

Yeah free was easy to come by just gotta know how to work the system, Like when I traded for the jeep, I traded and 2004 civic SI looked like crap, had busted door and the struts were shot due to I had it lowered and just bad paint and a 2000 ford F150 4x4 that had had 2 engines and had once sat at the bottem of a lake and sunk in a river in GA. (long stories) but I learn and move on to better things..., all in all I think I had about 5-6K neg-equity in them and I still walked from the dealership under asking price and got out of the 2 cars. Its all in how you take on the situation, I went in yesterday knowing if they came back with having to replace the tire that this time I would be getting the ones I wanted... Im happy

To make the MTR's last longer, rotate them about every other oil change. They are real soft and leave themselves on the pavement. Do not do a cross rotation, just move them from front to back w/o switching sides.

If you do not, the front will start to "cup" The tread will wear uneven, causeing some of the lugs to be higher than others.
From what I have been told it is due to the load rating of the tire versus the fairly light weight of the KJ. TJ's are worse for wear.

Thanks for the advice, I always try and rotate tires out about that often, god to know how they act though, Im not going to be picky about free tires like that, i would have gone with different tires but , these will be just fine.

For the record, the 'bad' tires, probably had belts that have "popped". I've had it happen before. If the belts, inside the tires seperate, it causes a LOT of vibration. Sometimes, it's obvious, and looks like a bubble- that would be if the side of the tire had a weak spot. If the belts separate, however, you may not be able to see it, but you'll SURE feel it.

When I was in college, I bought a complete set of tires for my car, from Discount Tire. I used the road hazard warrranty on EVERY one of the tires, 2 of them TWICE in 3 years. I'd be fine for a while, then all of a sudden, the vibration would begin.

Yep, I was told my belts were bad... I had someone else rotate tires for me, and they crossed them for me :x

Oh well, I deal with it till just before MOAB, then I will mount my new set!
