Yeah I was rear ended yesterday. It totaled the truck that hit me. List of things I have found wrong with my Jeep since the wreck:
-Jeep drives like crap now
-drives to the right
-tailgate is toast
-TJ bumper on the rear is bent up
-rear left quarter panel is crushed and out of line with the rest of the left side
-rear tailgate won't open
-my spare tire took most of the force so it's toast
-etc...
I was hit so hard my radio bezel (plastic trim around the radio) and my Sony radio it self popped out. Considering I have an iPhone for a camera and my Liberty is black, you can't tell in the pictures where the damage is. But I have pictures of the truck that hit me!!! :-) Hahaha!!!!
I did go to the ER and I checked out fine. Have a concussion but I'm doing better. Just sore and all. Jeep can be fixed/replace but I can't. Yes I will be sad if they total my Jeep cause I put a lot of time into it. Plus it is the first Jeep I had. So it has sentimental value to me. May look like a POS to some people but it's my Jeep and I can do whatever I want to it. If its totaled I will still get another Jeep. Just probably won't be a Liberty. Time for pictures...

This picture shows my TJ bumper is crooked

Some damage pictures...

The tailgate is screwed up and my spare was not like that before...also my CB antenna is right up against the Jeep and before there was a few inches of wiggle room between it and the jeep
Image

This is the gap between the rear left passenger door and the rear left quarter panel...I can put my hand in between there now and couldn't before
Image

There is a small gap between the gas door and the rear quarter panel...before I couldn't see that plastic with the gas door shut...now I can see it clearly with it shut...

Wow, glad you're ok! Sorry about your rig. My first jeep (an XJ) was lost in an accident too. I never thought I'd feel the same about another Jeep, but my new Jeepy (KK) is slowly becoming more mine as I add mods. :-) I know you said you would probably go for a different kind of Jeep next time around, but if you got a new Libby, I bet you could salvage some of your front lift components and transfer them over.

thanks...I'm glad I'm okay too. I really do not want another car payment. So getting a brand new vehicle is out of the question. More than likely will end up with some sort of inline-6 auto tranny TJ wrangler. Only thing I would want to salvage is my wheels and tires.

So if it does get totaled and if they ask if I want to buy the Liberty back, I might do it if it's not too much. I would put a salvage title on it and wheel it...OR part it out and get my money back and make a little.

If I remember correctly you are in Florida, so sending you something huge is out of the question. My local people have first dibbs IF I'm able to buy the Jeep back IF they total it. But if I buy it back, I will put salvage title on it and wheel the crap out of it.

Sorry to hear that you were rear-ended. I know how bad it sucks to have something like that happen to something you've put time and effort into making "yours". I'm glad to hear you are OK.

Thanks. I'm fine and getting better. Jeep is getting worse. Such as driving it and finding more damage. Ugh, it never ends. I am at the point I just want it to be totaled and gone. Every time I look at it I cringe. It is not the same being in it and driving it after the accident.

I'm not an insurance adjuster, but based on my experience with my XJ accident, I think they will probably total it. The two reasons I think so: 1) bent unibody (all those gaps) and 2) rear axle no longer straight (causing steering wheel to be off and Jeep driving to the right). Just make sure when you get the insurance adjuster's estimate from the insurance company that it accurately describes your vehicle. The first draft of my valuation listed my auto as a manual, and neglected to mention various factory options so as to undervalue my rig by several thousand dollars. After calling the insurance company to set the record straight, they sent the adjuster back out to verify and then agreed to give my what my Jeep was worth.

Glad you're ok, but it really sucks to total a vehicle that you put a bunch of work into! The first thing I noticed in your accident photos was your blacked out brake lights. I don't know if it's legal to have your lights blacked out in Kentucky or not, but insurance adjusters are always looking for a way to find you at fault for the accident. If I had to bet, I'd say it's gonna come up in the insurance report, hopefully not to bite you in keester though..

That should buff right out! Glad you are ok. You should be able to buy back the KJ and it is a good idea for a trail rig. I thought about keeping mine and using it for that. Then I thought more about it and thought, wait, I have a JK now, screw the KJ! Although I do miss it. It was a darn good KJ! Just met up with the guy last week and it was nice to see.

I will be meticulous about the Jeep when that guy's insurance adjuster comes out to see the Jeep. Like tell them what all is wrong with it and show all the gaps in the rear.

It's not illegal in Kentucky to have blacked out tail lights. In fact there are hardly any laws on vehicles here. They may be blacked out but you can still see the red braking light clearly.
