Well, the 4.0s' HP curve sucks about as bad as the 3.7L. I didnt know our Hp curve was so In-elastic... Our torque curve is really good though. Stays over 200 through the entire curve..

HP is a function of torque and rpm. So if you have 200lb-ft of torque at 1200rpms you are going to have only around 45HP no matter what type of engine. Only way to increase low-end power is to increase low-end torque.

HP is unit of power. Torque is a unit of energy or work. Remember, Power = (work/unit of time). How much work you can accomplish in a set amount of time. Thus to get more power you either need to do more work, or do the work faster.

Hence to get more HP you either need more torque, or spin the engine faster.

Take a look at these for a more indepth explaniation

Ahh yes.. I get it now. For the engine to have more Hp, it must spin faster since power=work/time.. Thanks eddo! I hope I know as much as you someday..

That is a broken slip joint on the rear drive shaft of a CJ-7 (not my pic) Although I could have a few like that if I had a camera. We had a 340 Duster that we twisted a few driveshafts on, we broke one the day we sold it, it was actually a good selling point :D Most Driveshafts are hollow on cars, driveshafts like this with a slip joint are more likely to be solid though.
