It might be worth getting a lawyer. My wife and I got in a horrible accident just over a year ago. The idiot rear-ended us at full speed on the freeway while we were stopped in traffic. The lawyer was a good guy and got us what we deserved - a KJ to replace our Mitsubishi Galant.

FLjeep,

Just some advice. I wouldn't talk much about injuries or settlements on a public forum. I would contact a top attorney from a metro area that specializes in injury settlements. It's probably fine to discuss the Jeep but let her attorney do all the talking as far as pain, suffering and compensation is concerned.

Your Jeep crash is worse than mine, it looked very similar to KJMurphy's but on the left side. My Jeep wasn't totalled and they are fixing my Liberty. $7100.00 damage.

Any kind of injury and lack of insurance = collision attorney and a doctor exam. Trust me, you don't want to mess around with trying to get a settlement from your insurance company or the other driver. It can take a long time and the cost of meds, doctor visits and rental cars can add up. If the lawyer is a collision specialist they will usually take the case on contingency = they will take their third of the settlement or whatever they charge you at conclusion of the case. Being that the other driver was at fault makes it more likely that they will represent you. The lawyer will probably recommend a doctor that you can see, also on contingency, for an exam and or referal to orthpedic specialists if your wifes injury needs further care.

And a reminder, do not talk about the case to anyone but the attorney, everythine goes through the lawyer. All claims, communication and reports.

My son was in an accident in his 05 Sport....with much less looking damage than your pictures show.
His ended up being totaled due to the fact that the firewall was damaged. Not sure why this is such an expensive kind of damage, but from looking at your pics, I would say your firewall would be damaged as well.

Good luck to you.

Paul

I have a few comments to make. As far as paying for doctor bills right now, check to see if you have personal injury protection (PIP) coverage on your insurance. If you do, make sure you tell the doctors office so they can bill your insurance directly. Otherwise use your health insurance. Of course if there is a lawsuit settlement at some point the health insurance will need to be reimbursed from the settlement. Don't worry too much about the value of your KJ. When they totalled mine, they gave me much more than Kelly blue book. They said they came to a value by determining how much it would cost if you were to go out and buy another one with the same mileage and options. So in the end, after paying off my loan, I still had a couple thousand to put down on a new car. And like everyone said, try to keep as many details out of the public if you think you will be involving a lawyer at some point.
