Well, I just wanted to throw in my two cents worth. As soon as I saw the title, I knew that I would have an issue with it. Yes, it is truly sad that they lost their lives, although I don't believe that it should be stereotyped with "See! We shouldn't let teens drive". I'm only eighteen and have been driving for two, almost three years, with no accidents, dents, or tickets. I consider myself a good driver and have gotten myself out of some pretty hairy situations. I also attended my first LOST run on Saturday. Yes, there are irresponsible ones, but there are also those of us who take it seriously. That whole topic really irritates me. It's kinda like the people who say my generation is horrible, self centered, etc. It's the generation before us who raised us and is actually responsible. Also, those are us who are responsible and ambitious are not shown very often because we are hardly MTV material. I'm going to get off my soapbox now....
I agree. I'm 18 as well and have had no tickets or accidents of any kind in my driving experience. While there is statistical merit behind the teenage driving stereotype, in a way its like saying that moms and old people should not be allowed to drive. I've almost been hit countless times by moms driving huge suvs while trying to pacify their kids or talking on cell phones. At the same time, I've witnessed a ton of near-accidents involving clueless old people. Every age group has its good and bad drivers, it just happens that teenagers catch the most flak because we're young (and therefore, more "appropriate" targets of lectures)
