I've been running the Generals for about a year and a half and have had no problems out of them. The only weakness I have seen is mud traction. Around here we get a lot of that thick mud with clay and these things turn to slicks.

However, they are awesome in the snow and stick really well to wet streets too.

I've had the same problem with the mud. My next tire will not be Grabber AT2s unless my love for mudding suddenly disappears. It is great for everything else though...

That mud looks just like we get here in KY. The worst I tend to get into is similar to where you're sitting. I want the best snow and ice performance without going to a dedicated winter tire though. The Destination AT's I have now, do very well for the ice storms and couple decent snowfalls we get here, and on my weekend ski trips during the winter. As soon as my Frankenlift II Premium arrives, I have to decide between Destination AT 255/70R17's, and the Grabber AT2's in a 265/65R17 on 17X7.5", 5.5" BS, with 10mm custom spacers. The tire store has the Destinations in stock, but the AT2's will have to be special ordered since no one in town carries them, and I'll be stuck with them if there are problems. I love the way the Grabbers look, but I know the Destinations work well. Has anyone run both of them?

That mud should look familiar. I was in Kentucky when that picture was taken. Specifically, I was in Land Between the Lakes on one of the tertiary roads near Energy Lake.

I'm in the same boat (trying to find a local store that carries them), and can't find any... in Atlanta. Granted, I just started looking:wink: As far as quality's concerned, General is the "american subsidiary" of Continental tire, which is the OEM supplier for many luxury and high-performance vehicles. They don't advertise like BFG, but they DO spend money on R&D. Chances are that they have a cheap offering just like every other company and that cheap tire is the one that all the complain-ey people get. You know the, one that's $99 for 4 tires, installed. My stock CRD tires are like riding on jello, but obviously goodyear makes excellent silentarmors and MTRs...

No one carried them here either. I had to have them ordered. Took about 4 days to come in and I wasn't charged any ship charges. Go in and ask...I am sure some one can order them.

I'm actually trying to figure out which tires to go with for the set of Rubicon Moabs I bought yesterday and the 17's are going in the garage next to the other set of 16's. I like the stance of 16X8" 5" BS with 265/70R16's. I know the owner of the tire store down the street. He has lots of everything else I'm looking at in stock and will let me try on a few sets like trying on shoes. He will also order anything I want, but if I turn out not liking the Grabbers, or have problems or rubbing issues with them I'm going to get a big "I told you so." They just look so tempting.

I DETEST Generals and Continentals. Most people that know about tires do. Every vehicle I've driven with Contis or Generals, from my Grampa's '07 Buick Lucerne to my dad's 05 Chevy Colorado to a couple late-model Benzes that've had them on there have shaken for the first 10 miles after sitting for 2 or 3 hours. I can't STAND them. Otherwise, they don't do too bad, but that Lucerne seriously shakes me worse at low speeds after it's sat for a day than my MTR's do at ANY time

I used to have a set of Bridgestones that would flat spot in a few hours on my Cherokee. I hated it. I'm thinking that the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor in a 265/70R16 may be my best bet. They're severe snow rated for the ski trips. They're quiet and smooth for an AT, and the tire store has them in stock. It looks like it's a little more aggressive than my Destination AT's which have done rather well for my use.
