The fancy Iridium plugs seem to be working exactly like the Autolite Platinums that most people talk about. I didn't put them in for any increase in performance, I put them in to see what they'll look like at the end of 30K miles. If they are bad - they'll get replaced with the Autolites. But there's a small chance that they won't be bad and I'll be able to continue to use them.....

I should go pull one now and take a picture of it after 3,000 miles so far [yes it's going to take about 2 years to get the 30K miles put in... I don't drive as much as I used to]

Believe it or not, NGK makes great spark plugs! The ones for the KJ suck, but that is the exception to the rule. I'm also giving the NGK Iridiums a trial run, if they hold up as they should, they are supposed to last 75-100K miles... we shall see.

[update to an old thread]

The Iridium's are coming out after 2 years of service and about 20-25K miles. The KJ is starting to run rough at idle and has picked up a small habbit of wanting to stall. There was no increase in mileage or performance. The service life was identical to a single platinum.

The money, for me, has not been worth it.

I'll go back to regular plugs now.

which ngks did you get, when i got plugs last they didnt have 6 autolite plats, i ended up getting ngk irids the ones that are like 40 cents more than the autolite plats

i refuse to pay 25 bucks for plugs since i change them every 15k anyway

i havent been able to find any difference in the regular ngk irids in comparason to the autolite plats

What spark plugs, you got the wrong model.

I did the plugs on mine and the hardest part was keeping the coolant overflow bottle out of the way. Well that and the fact that I forgot to plug one of the wires back in and got a check engine light and rough idle for my trouble. But that was an easy fix. I would also just use the same NGK plugs that it came with. No sense in spending all that extra money for the little gain you'll get from those fancy plugs.

get yourself a swivel adapter for your socket and a long extension and you don't have to touch the coolant overflow bottle! 8)

I just hit 21,000 miles on the factory plugs, should I go with the NGK6441? Image

Last sumer I figured out how to never have to change your spark plugs for as long as you own the vehicle...... Get a DIESEL engine.

I always used NGK in the Subarus Honda and Nissan I used to own, I tried Bosch Platnium +4 once too they seems to make the Outback run very smooth.
