One of the reasons I requested my refund for the item I ordered over a year ago. BTW it wasn't one of Rusty's item.

I JUST received this email from rusty's:

I recieved a copy of your e-mail to RTM and went to check out the LOST site,
first off the customers post wasn't true, I also did not hang up on him , he
was on a cell phone and he had a bad connection and he was only hearing ever
other word I was saying, I tried to get the info about his vehicle because we
sell alot of these and have no complaints, if there is a problem we do want to
know, I never got the chance to offer him a refund on the parts he had to buy
at the muffler shop, which I was going to do, he never told me his name and I
have my people searching who he was so I could call him since he didn't call
back. No we dont come to the lost forum much but we have read things where we
know what parts people want next. We have tons of customers that have bought
parts and love them. I just wanted you to know that you posted some pretty
strong statment without knowing all the facts, I have a great relationship with
all the people at Trucks and Extreme 4x4 and they tons of people that love our
products and the things we do. They did tell me this was the first complain on
us in over 3 years so that should tell you alittle about us. Thanks for your
time but if someone has an issue we are going to fix it.
Rusty

That was a great letter you sent woody. and for the record I did give him both my name and information but he was too busy yelling at me telling me it was my fault, that he did not hear what I was telling him. If he wants to find me he can...I dont know about the lost connection thing he was reffering to. It seemed at though he hung up on me. Do I call him back now?
Now that he knows of the site and is aware of the things we are all saying about them you think they will change there ways? I will give him a call sometime today and see what happens.
I think it was a wise idea to send a letter to powerblock. I really wonder if they are going to do anything about it. Thanks for all of your support guys.....Let see what happens when I do call and powerblock gets back to you woody. If you want to talk further about this (woody) drop me a pm with your info we can chat.

RTM, the production company in Knoxville, TN that produces the PowerBlock TV shows, apparently took it seriously as they had contacted Rusty with in an hour of my email to them.

We have a classic example of "he said they said."

BUT, the thing to remember is that somebody who has good customer service, the service everybody expects, will tell 2 people about it. The preson who has Poor and in this case rude customer service will tell EVERYBODY about it.

RTM knows that and they also know that the 4x4 community is small and tightly knit. Despite the fact most of the KJres are looked down upon as the red headed step child of Jeepin (same way the xj's were back when they were first starting to get modified) RTM knows that we still spend money and that we want to spend more money.

It is plain and simple. IF they ever hear of other issues about Rusty's or any other company, they will let them know about it as fast as they did this.

Bottom line is it may have done some good. Rusty MAY have realized that he screwed up, but I dought it.

But I guarantee you one thing, RTM will think twice(all be it very briefly) about using their products and pluggin them again.

GOOD LUCK RUSTY.

So it seems as though a lot of people are un-happy with rustys or at least been burned by them one way or another. What can we do about it? boycott? letter? BBB? any thoughts?

Ive read numerous posts of people complaining about things that have happened with rustys. There are also tons of people that have had good business with rustys though. Maybe since Rustys has so many sales with other Jeeps he knows he wont loose much if a few select liberty owners have problems. I for one have only ordered springs from him and all went well with that. I also recommend his suspension lift to many people as I think its a good all around lift kit minus his rear shocks. And that reminds me, Ive read about one thing that really makes him mad is when you say his rear shocks dont fit and ask for another type of shock. I remember reading that awhile back.

I know what really worries him is when people like woody take things to the max. Thats what gets things rolling.

I will not bash on him, BUT I will just not deal with him ever! As far as him getting mad about his rear shocks and what people say, what does he think of the people who buy them and then have to put up with the rattle? I would discontinue using that shock if I was him, of course he gets them for a buck two 98 so he maybe doesnt care.

All of this said, I have to chime in and say that I have had absolutely no problems with orders from Rusty's on 3 different occassions (lift, fuel skid and rock rails) and because of their close location to me the shipping was cheap and had each order within 3 days.

Now, I had no problems with any of those orders that needed to be corrected (unlike my orders from other vendors), so I cannot comment on dispute resolution with them.

There. Somebody has now posted a counter-point.

I do not think telling the truth is "Taking it to the Max". If letting people who ignore you and don't care about giving you the most for your money and that they have screwed up is wrong then i am guilty as charged.

BUT if standing up and letting them know that their methods and attitude is in appropriate then what is wrong with that. I never said he was a bad person or ran a crooked business. I just mearly pointed out that he does not seem to care about his customer service and doesn't seem to want to do what is neccessary to make sure his customers are happy spending their hard earned dollars with him.

I am sure there will be many satisfied customers. He would not be in business if everybody was un-happy. Just making sure we know that there are more than there should be in the Dissatisfied department.

So......I spoke to Rusty last night. I called him back and left a message. He promptly returned my call. Like grown gentlemen we discussed everything that happen both during our conversation over the phone and on LOST. Needless to say he was not happy to read all these negative posts (and I don’t blame him). But, like a good business men we discussed the issues that I had and we came to a mutual agreement of a partial refund for the extra parts and labor I had to put in.

I am going to send him pictures of my rig and show him all of the issues that I had so that his staff can make sure they correct it. He said that he is having a meeting with his staff to make sure they are all on the same page about what the KJ parts in tale. He has also since then made an addition to the exhaust system description on his website. When it comes down to it...in my opinion, he did the right thing in the end. He got in touch with me and we settled the dispute so that both parties are satisfied.

I can’t honestly say that I probably would not order from him again, but if I do I'm sure he would make sure the parts were correct. Whether anyone else buys from them again....That is up to you.

Thanks for all of your support everyone.

I too heard from Rusty again.

I am glad that all has been worked out to your satisfaction. I emailed Rusty back and told him I was sorry for butting into what was none of my business. I also said that I was glad all was being worked out and that I considered this matter closed, atleast from my stand point. I explaind that I had been in the advertising and marketing business for a while and that since there was no way to contact him via his website to send him a link to the posts where you were venting, that I decided to get his attention via RTM and powerblock TV. I continued to say that I was sure he had happy customers and that it was the few unhappy ones he needed to pay attention to a little more

I also said that I hoped it did some good in helping him recognise that there was an issue with his customer service and that it was affecting his reputation and that it need his attention and that I hoped that was a good result of all this.

I am glad you are happier with the situation.
