It only takes once, smartguy. Pull over and text.
I feel sorry for the guy who hits me while he's texting.
It will be his last text because my foot will guide that cell phone straight up his @ss.

It would be the smart thing to do, but I'd literally be pulling over every 2 minutes... My gf just moved up to Western Carolina, 3 hours away. You can bet she won't stop texting me, but it's understandable. I'm not stupid about it, atleast not TOO stupid about it. I take my time, and do it during red lights and stop signs.

I think she can wait dude. Your putting everyone else's life at risk just because you can't wait until you get home or somewhere safe. Here's an idea, why don't you just call her? Then you can tell her everything without sending tidbits of mind numbing acronyms while managing to control a two ton piece of metal.

Calling her would work great for me. Girls don't seem to understand that though. For now it's okay, I speed less than the average soccer mom. It's just how I do things, we're all stupid about something.

As far as texting while driving is concerned, we don't need tougher laws. Laws do "0", ZIP, NADA, Nothing to PREVENT a stupid accident. What we need is more COMMON SENSE! PARENTS - TALK TO YOUR CHIDLREN! Thank you, I'll step down now

Texting in traffic should be obviously a dumb thing to do. How do I know? Because I've done it myself and have seen how worse my driving got because of it. Some people may argue they are more talented than others and can do more at one time. However, texting requires averting your eyes to your cell phone for long periods of time in order to type in that text. And anything that makes you take your eyes off the road for that long of a period of time in a traffic situation is a bad idea.

If it was a $2000 fine for tailgating, I think people would think twice. As for common sense.... ask Murphyman

I agree with Savage ... we don't need tougher laws ... we just need to enforce the ones we have. In most states, it is already illegal to text and drive either because of a specific law or because it falls under some other law.

To enforce the ones we have, we need more police officers and traffic cameras. For that we need more funding. To get more funding, we need to toughen up the laws, and use some serious scare tactics (advertising) because no one cares. Ask Murphyman. Do you know in some parts of europe, they consider tailgating more of a crime than speeding? They have cameras just for tailgating. They also fine you on a percentage of your income. I think the most someone got fined was $20,000. Just think what we could do to the economy with all the extra revenue.
