Thanks i found it now...

Next question.. About how long would this install take to do both sides? Are we talking like 5 -6 hours or more like 2-3 depending on how long it takes to get them off ( think really rusty..)

Shouldnt take 5-6 hours. I would think one and a half hours per side to be conservative... if you have all the tools. Only 'special' would be the 35mm socket for the axle nut.

Really all you have to do is
1. Remove axle nut (35mm). One bolt
2. Unbolt clevis, lower and upper then remove it. Two bolts
3. unbolt lower ball joint and swing knuckle out (supported by jack). Will have to tap end of CV with hammer while moving knuckle to get through the bearing hub. One bolt
4. CV assy should pull right out of diff. Be careful to support the CV while you remove so as not to damage axle bearing or seal. No bolts

I have never installed the CV assy but it cant be more than pushing it back in to get the C-clips to seat, right guys?

This is what my passenger side and drivers side halfshafts look like. Notice the wobble on the axle shaft for the passenger side and also the outside CV wobble (shown here on drivers side but both do it).

What do you think, bad or normal?

jdumont, i have not had mine apart but i am wondering if i were to go get a right side half shaft assembly if that would completely fix the problem. Its my understanding that in the video at the beginning of the thread the part that has all the movement is attached to another axle that goes inside the front diff. Will JUST replacing the half shaft fix this issue or do you need to replace both the half shaft and also the axle shaft it attaches to?

I really dont know man. Im still trying to figure out if either or both of my halfshaft assys are bad too. I started a thread at KJ Country specifically with my three videos here. If your halfshafts are doing what the first video i posted are doing then they are also doing what the three that i just posted are doing.

Maybe ill start a new post here with just my vids of the assys out of the vehicle and see what people say. I dont want to get yelled at for posting the same thing twice though. Some people on forums are just waiting to jump down your throat, ya know.

Well mine has been to the dealership to get the problem solved.
1st time in replaced both CV axles, when I went to pick it up made them put it back on the lift to check and and still had some play in the passenger side, told him it could be the Axle shaft and he said I could be right, so he wrote up the ticket and ordered the part. I take it in Thursday am for the Axle shaft.

All of this plus alignment twice and rental cars for 5 days now for $100. Love that extended warrenty, and a dealership that will work with you.

Right side has intermediate axle,Where these join is splined,water,mud,whatall get in there causeing wear,this makes slop in fitment,I would replace both,depending on miles,wear,etc.

Thanks... is it possible to replace the intermediate shaft without opening up the front diff? I am guessing that i will need to replace that but dont want to mess with opening the diff...

Since you are going to be pulling it apart I would go ahead and replace both, they get really rusted and afraid you may have problems later on if not replaced at the same time. Most times both are needing replaced anyways.
Also no you do not have to open up the diff to do this, you do need to order new clips from the dealer. I have the numbers here somewhere if I can find them. Not hard to do but some are a son of a gun to get out. esp. at 2 AM, right 03CDKJ???!!!

They did both half shafts on one day then I went to pick it up and made them put it on the lift and there was still play in it so I talked him into doing the intermediate shaft on another visit since it had to be ordered.

My extended warrenty company paid him .6 hours to do it and he said it took about an hour from tear down to put back together for the intermediate shaft.

No play in the cv's now.

Parts replaced with the inner shaft:
ring-axle shaft 5066064aa
shaft 5066057ab
seal-axle drive shaft 5066066aa

Thanks guys, do you have any part #'s and location you bought these from. There seems to be a lot of talk about not getting autozone type parts for this job...

That center shaft is a dealer part only.Stay away from "new" CV shafts sold at places like autozone,the only "new" CV's that are okay to use is OEM CV's(dealer only and big $$$),get remaned CV's only since they are the correct CV's.

what's wrong with the cheap CV's? I bought a new CV (half shaft) for $150. Dealer wanted $550. My boot is tore but dealer wants $100 for a boot kit. I might as well just get the CV for $50 extra or is that not a good choice?

This is the brand I got

1 CARDONE SELECT CONSTANT VELOCITY DRIVE AXLE, NEW -- Includes new axle nut; This high quality and direct fit OE replacement CV drive axle features 100 percent neoprene boots for excellent ozone resistance, 3 percent moly grease for extreme high temperature and pressure characteristics that extend the life of the joint, and 100 percent rolled splines and threads that eliminate installation hassle; With A1 Cardone's limited 3-year or 36,000-mile warranty.

* Brand: A1 Cardone
* Location: Front, Passenger Side
* Series: Cardone Select

On a side note it would be interesting to try this stuff to repair a cv boot. It works great for many materials including rubber.
