Well,
Here is the update. My mechanic drove it with his tech and they heard a noise in the rear of the vehicle that they had to "listen" for. I guess the noises I heard when they are happening you don't have to listen very hard, but whatever. Anyway, they took apart the rear brakes and determined that was most likely where the noise was coming from and also determined the emergency brake was completely shot and blown apart inside the rotor. He said this all needs to be replaced anyway (which since the last time the brakes were done was at 75k I suppose this could be true, although, I didn't notice any braking issues.
He has also determined that one of the joints of the front driveshaft (which based on the pictures posted from the the CV joints of the axle, is also a CV type joint) is bad. The smaller of the two. He is looking for parts or replacements for cheaper from local suppliers instead of JEEP. So hopefully in the next week I'll hear good news on that. All the rear brake work will be around $500 dollars. Minus the front drive shaft since he is going to work on finding that and replacing/ fixing separately.
I'm not completely convinced this is the entirety of the problem, but once I get it back and get to drive it, we'll see. If it is, I think the suspension is the next repair. If I can get the wife to go for it, I'm going to go for the Frankenlift II premium. If not, in the next few months I think we'll be selling the libby and buying something else. We've had it paid for for over a year, so we've had some time without this car payment, which was nice. It has also freed up funds to put money into my other toy:
