I have the Ultras. I put them in, in Feb '09. My pas side is now dead as of as of 12/30/10. I got almost 2-years and around 25,000 miles out of them. Maybe 25% of that was with the lights on but honestly I have no idea about that part.

I don't think they were that much brighter than the stock bulbs - I could tell a little bit but no one else had any idea. They did have a little bit of a wider beam pattern that the stock bulbs did. And while they were a bit brighter I don’t think they carried the light a greater distance than the stock bulbs did. I originally got them thinking I'd save money and wouldn’t want/need to get aux driving lights. After a few weeks of having them I ended up getting a set of Hella 500F driving lights and I'm happy I went that direction.

I can say this – I remember it being a pain in the butt to change the bulbs.

I recently just got silverstars for my headlights and fogs (Christmas gift from bro  ) Definitely brighter and more white. 8)

As far as longevity? When I got rid of my explorer (owned 3 years) it still had the silverstar bulbs that my brother used in his explorer for 2 years without a blow out(that he gave me when he sold it, 1 week after I got mine.)
