Not happening. I'd rather pay a professional than do it myself. I do not trust myself doing any mechanical work to my Jeep.

just to be honest. plugs are really easy. once you do the first one, the rest take no time at all. except for the infamous rear left plug!

that left rear plug made me go to autozone and buy a pack of 6 coil retainer nuts.. which I have 3 left :P

about every other change i'd drop one and it would hit the ground in the gravel driveway and be lost forever

so you have either changed your plugs 3 times since then, or you have lost 2 in the process of adding the one nut from which you lost the original nut :ROTFL:

I recently swapped to Autolite 5224 just because that was available. The only disturbing thing I noticed as the plus was considerably shorter than the OEM NGK. I don't know how much that will effect combustion but lot's of people are running them trouble free.

I put in the NGK Platinum plugs after the first 50,000 miles. I never thought about them again (because I'm a bad Jeep owner), until the engine started mysteriously missing on cold morning starts. At that time, my Liberty has 215,000 miles, so I replaced the plugs again, and the cold start missing was solved. So the NGK Platinum plugs did yeoman's duty for 165.000 miles and I'm pretty happy with NGKs in my Liberty. I will say that the electrodes were amazingly worn away after so many miles. The center electrodes were all but gone.

Man that is something I would not even admit to :ROTFL:
165,000 on any type of plug out there is at least 100,000 miles too much
Bet it ran 1000s times better

Kind of reminds me when I forgot about my air filter. I never looked to check what it looked like until one day I thought, "I need to buy a new air filter." Well sure enough I take the OEM one out, bend it and the filter part breaks in half! Put the new K&N airfilter in and immediately noticed better gas mileage.

can only access 1 plug on the 4cyl vw bugs (newer ones) without pulling the plenum, friends vw had stock plugs in all but one hole at about that mileage

i thought they had pre-combusted they were so worn, the stock plugs had stumps for side electrodes

Yeah, well as I said, I'm a bad Jeep owner... New plugs stopped the missing in the morning. The Jeep ran the same otherwise. I have found the Jeep Liberty is very hardy and forgiving.

You might get be amused to know that I replaced the brake pads for the first time at the same interval. 165,000 miles. I can't complain about Mopar pads. Even the clutch didn't last that long. A mere 90,000 miles.

I changed the spark plugs a couple weeks ago with Champion Plats. and they seem to be doing great! I don't think they were ever changed though by the previous owner! :banghead:

Plugs going in tomorrow, along with hitch installation and the shop is going to look at my Jeep and see if there is anything wrong with it. All three things for a $100 bill

They worked on my Jeep the past 3 times so I trust them.

Haha no, they know I'm not dumb and they treat me better unlike these other shops that treat me like a D.A.

i will say this about spark plug selection. i had an 03 ram 1500 p/o changed the plugs for some platinum plugs. a month later cel came on all i could trace it back to was egr solenoid. replaced the solenoid cel still on. i gave up...was at the shop one day fartin around on alldata and noticed a side note for the rams with the 4.7 engine that stated only use oem plugs. swapped in new oem and instantly the cel which had been on for 2 months and 2 egr solenoids wnt off and code was stored. so from now on i always go with oem.
