I couldnt agree more. The only way I would put the kj on the back biurner is if I got a similar bronco or jeepster commando. But Id still keep the KJ as it truly is an amazing vehicle.

Oh yeah, we’re keeping the KJ forever! So far we’ve put over $7,000 dollars into modifications so we’re not about to sell or trade the KJ for anything. It’s paid off, drives good, and does everything we want it to do. My suggestion is to do it once and do it the way you want it.

I have a spare Dana 30a, but really, if I blew my Dana 30a, I would really give a lot of thought to the steel Dana 30. It would help relieve a lot of concern about blowing it. Sure you can blow any of them but there is less of a chance of it happening.

Cause I like to research stuff, I've been reading about broken Dana 30s on the web. Seem broken axles is the most common, then gears. Haven't seen anything about the housing cracking/breaking, but was able to find a few bent housings.

It appears that after the aluminum housing, the CVs would be the IFS's next weakest link. I'd rather break those, cheaper and easier to replace.

If you need to replace it you might aswell throw a locker in there while its out, that will protect your gearing and make it so you dont have as much an issue with one wheel spinning. JE Reel CVs would be the next expensive step to a solid IFS setup. Tom Woods (4xshaft.com) seems to have some double cardan cv setup or something for the liberty but i didnt have time to look into it Im actualy gona surf over there now to finish reading about it :D

In terms of lockers, we know there’s nothing stronger than an ARB air locker.

Sure looks like that is for the front drive shaft...

But the bottom pictures for the measurement could be for the CV shaft?

That’s the problem. You wont find enough people to go into a group buy. Lots of talk, but very few will hand out the coin.

Yeah. We're going to pick up the steel one. Gathering funds and looking to purchase mid-September. With any luck, it will be broken in (well, not actually broken ) and ready to go by ECS in October! :pepper: :JEEPIN:

I think you made the right choice! As much as you guys like to wheel, it only makes since IMO. Do you already have 4:10's? If not, then this is the time to do it!

Have to get new gears. :(

Hopefully the current 4.10s haven't been damaged. If they look good they'll be put up for sale.

You do know that the D30A internals will not work in the D30 right?
