I bottomed out the other week in a mud pit, and i was resting on the UniBody and the gas tank...I had to be pulled out by two vehicles b/c i was so stuck...sorry I havent uploaded pics yet to my cardomain...maybe sometime this weekend after my lift....

Obviously, you are protected. What kind of damage do you think it would have done to the gas tank w/o skid plates? I guess the best bet is to play it safe until you can get all the fixins yea? BTW...nice KJ. I saw your domain page today...very nice!

The only modifications I have made so far, full set of mopar skids and front tow hooks. I really think the skids probably paid for themselves this past weekend - went to Superlift ORV park in Hot Springs with a couple of friends with Land Rovers to try out the KJ, lot of loose rocks, steep climbs and descents with solid rocks reaching up and banging the skids (even the guys in the Rovers could hear me hit). Great place to go wheeling BTW if you ever have the chance, trails are rated 1 to 5 (5 being extreme in difficulty), very impressed with the KJ, even at stock height I managed to make a 4 with no problem although I had to back out of a 2 due to rutting and clearance issues (and new KJ, only 1500 miles at the time, and of course new and "cautious" offroader). I definately recommend skids first, engine first then work back -only hit the fuel tank skid once all day. If interested the Rover guys were both impressed with the capabilities of the KJ (honest opinions not just friends talking). BTW, when the skids hit the make enough noise to serve as a warning or indication of just how hard you're hitting, just go slow and determined - speed can kill expensive parts offroad.

Hope this helps some ... even if it is just my opinion.

Mike

Ive started with the front and Im working my way back. So far Ive gotten the engine skid, and tranny skid. Ive got the money for the Gas tank skid and tcase, Im just waiting to see if anyone is going to sell one on here for cheap.

I do some rocks and mud/logging trails and Ive never hit the gas tank. The only thing I beat to death is the front skid, and it takes it no questions ask.

dano104, be careful about that front skid, It may not be the real skid they use on the off road pack. Many crd's(I know yours is gas) have been coming with a thin metal skid to hold up sound proofing, so check into that. Ive also heard the good skid and the crappy one look the same.

Trust me I'm dieing to. I'm trying to get my rig up to par as soon as humanly possible. I should have hooks mounted this week, and should be armored in the next 6-8 weeks with a lift by 4-5 months. My only question is who is going to let me tether my rig to theirs?
