I use the fram extraguard filters with the grips on it. I wet the o-ring with oil and tighten it down no more than one turn past when the o-ring touches. I have been using that on all of my farm machinery and personal vehicles for years and never a leak. If you tighten it too tight when you change it, and then the engine gets hot the overcompressed seal might burst. That is why I hate having someone else change it.

just did my first change today, filter was on tight and my old filter wrench wouldn't fit. almost used a screwdriver which works ok with mess but borrowed a strap wrench from neighbor.

crushed it a bit but loosened it enough. arms were good enough to get it from the bottom or the top once it was loose.

manual says how much it takes. 3.7 is 4.7 litres - but the oil i bought came in .95 litre bottles so 5 bottles was a couple mm below the full line. not sure how much in US quarts, can't remember what the manual said.

for next change im gonna buy a claw wrench... like this

i used to work in the pit @ mr lube when i was in school and claw was the best.

I find that it is easier for me to take off the old filter and install the new one from underneith even with the skid plate there. I have to get under it to drain the oil anyway.
