As far as how it rode in the first post. If you switch out the shocks and struts to something better (I love my Ranchos, not sure which would be best on a CRD), you get a huge improvement in the ride.

Update on my shopping. I found a '05 CRD LTD with 20K miles. Clean with all the bells and whistles. The warrentee was no longer transferable so they will do a certification and give me 8yr/80k on the power train. They offered it to me for $21K but I won't take it for more than $20k. Still sounds too high to me but, after looking on line that is the going rate for a CRD in my area. I was also planning to push them on some of the recalls and semi recalls I have read about online here. Thanks for the great resource. I will post the results of this purchase if things go through.

Johnny, I would suggest you check jeep.com for your zip code and see what oother incentives are available. I knocked $3,000 of my liberty sport (it was advertised for $17,995 w/10K miles and I paid $15k with 10K miles) because there was a $4000 incentive available for me to buy a similar equipped 06.

Use kelly blue book to get an accurate quote, knock off $3k and if anything start there. I hate to say it, but this is a used car dealer who is selling a vehicle that (last time I checked) is sitting in some fairground in detroit in vast numbers because they weren't selling as well as they should. (I am beginning to believe that the market is somewhat saturated as I can't leave my house without seeing at least one or two libbies coming at me) although, don't get me wrong I would still get my libby if I had to do it over again....

Just try and get the price down some more than $1,000 (...and I haven't checked KBB, so $21k might be already adjusted for the incentive, but I doubt it)

Well, I finally picked up a slightly used 06 Liberty limited. It has pretty much every option and a extended Chrysler bumper to bumper warrantee (to hedge against some of the problems I read about here). I paid too much but I am pleased with the vehicle so far. I probably won't wheel with it for a least a little while because it is all new and pretty still. Rides real nice in the snow and muck and it's definitely a truck and not a car (I actually like that). Plenty of power. Mileage seems to be pretty good - according to the display 22 or so in the city and on the highway up near 30. If that is even close to accurate I am pleased.

They will be taking it to do the lower ball joints and flashing updates on chip, etc.

Thanks to all those who posted advice.

Now I just need a biodiesel sticker (even tough I can't buy any biodiesel in my area) and I will feel as guilt free as Al Gore on a weekend by the pool.

donkeykong just so you know, the Libertys are not sitting in some fairground in Detroit. They are proudly made in Toledo and sitting at a closed down shopping mall here in town. Just didnt want people thinking they could go to Detroit and see them!!  they have to come to the true JEEP home town, Toledo! :P :P

Tom, I heard they were somewhere... detroit doens't make sense other than I figured that al the Semis taking all the jeeps out of toledo whenever I'm out that way on 80 were going somewhere.

How far off the turnpike is the mall? It it a sight worth seeing? I travel to chicago almost monthly and would consider stopping for that tourist trap :P

IMHOP there is nothing better than thumbing thru a book to "stumble" on what you need. I have owned manuals for almost every car I have ever owned, and whenever I'm looking for something it's usually divided across 3 sections. That is why I prefer a book version.

I have the CD and just use the search function to do the same thing-- but the manual is big though, and it can take a bit of time to search everything, but you know you have not missed anything. You want to have lots of free memory to load the whole manual if you take this approach.

good choice on getting a crd liberity
got my 2002 crd liberity sport in 2006 ,had 70k on it,has 85k's now,never had a problem[knocking on wood]
main reason for getting a crd liberity is petrol is €1.05 per litre here and diesel is €0.99-1.03,get average 26-31 mpg out of it
dont sell bio-desiel here yet in many places, will try if they do
question,do you you ned to change anything to use bio-diesel
p.s
welcome to L.O.S.T KJ
great place

mine might be for sale in a few weeks.. it's an 2006 renny with 6,000 miles on it. it has a magnaflow muffler, k&N cold air, spidertrax spacers, and has been rust proofed... not sure if im selling it or not yet... but if i did it would most likely be for 19,000
