It's a forty-footer, but don't worry about accommodating us. Wherever you guys decide to camp is OK. We will just find somewhere close if they can't take our motorhome.

Most of them are $30 to $35 a night. But here is the best bet.

Salt Springs: (352) 625-2520

106 paved sites with full hookups
54 Tent sites
Restrooms & Showers
Last years rates were $12.50 to $20.00 a night.

I'm guessing the $12.50 is for the tent sites. We have driven past this place a couple of times when out in Ocala NF. Trails are real close by too.

Terry

We have stayed there several times. It is a beautiful campground and if the weather is nice the springs is a great place to take a dip. They have a tent camping area as well as sites with full hookups. They can accommodate just about anything. I don't know about April but right now it is staying full. Full timers from up North know about it and spend their winters here. They allow camping for up to six-months. Great Place.

Maybe we should reserve some site now just to be safe??
And are they any spots that are good for fishing around there? I know there was that huge lake in Ocala but we couldn't seem to get to it last time. hah

What kind of motorhome do you have. We HAD a 38' Dutch Star Diesel that we lived in for 6 years traveling around the country. We hit all but 4 states with it. If it was just me I would still be on the road.

It would probably be a good idea. They don't show an online map of the campground. It would be nice if we could all get close together.

I checked availability online at Salt Springs. There are no RV sites available for the weekend of 9-11 April. Like I said, there is a six-month maximum stay and the Snowbirds flock in during the fall and stay their six months and then head back North. There are plenty of tent sites available. No problem if it is decided to stay at Salt Springs. We can stay down the road at Rodman Campground at the North end of the Forest on highway 19 or at the fish camp at Astor on Highway 40.

We have a Beaver Monterey Laguna. It is 40' with four slides. We love it. Haven't visited as many states as you have, but we are working on it. Visited Colorado and Utah this past summer. Wheeled a lot of trails in the Rockies and around Moab and had a blast. I'm wanting to go back.

What a bummer. Maybe someone will leave by then and have a site avaliable??
Can you have them alert you if a site becomes available?

I heard today about a campground close to Salt Springs but they don't advertise and they are not on any campground list. So that doesn't help any.

Salt Springs would be my first choice, but we stay at a private campground there every November called Parramore Fish Camp. They have limited tent space, but plenty of RV and Trailer/cabins. It is right on the St Johns River for those with boats and they rent boats for those without. Not the best or cheapest, but not a bad place to stay.

I was looking at that place but its kinda far from the trails from the map I saw.

I will ask the guys on the local jeep forum what they know about camping around there. They are sure to know about it.

There is a nice state campground called Rodman: http://www.rodmanreservoir.com/camps_n_ ... n_camp.htm It sets right on the Cross Florida Barge Canal in Ocala NF.

That seems like a good place to camp.
But only 2 tents and 2 vehicles per camp site?? Thats not that much!

that's not uncommon, often campsites are very close together, tad larger than 6 walmart parking spaces plus a little extra for a picnic table (if there is one) and a fire ring, would fit 2 vehicles and 2 tents

Ahh, true. Well I guess we need to start finding out who all plans on going and who plans on camping so we can get some camp sites for that are next to each other.
