Ok so I decided to write Stephanie back and pursue the matter further in hopes that something about this problem is done. Honestly, I'd be happy if they offered to cover the part and I pay for labor. Especially, if they are replacing the part with a newer window regulator with metal clips instead of the plastic. In a dream world, I'd love to see Jeep offer to replace all failed window regulators at their cost.

Anyways, here is my response to the email I received.

To whom it may concern:

I'm curious to find out what type of assistance is available if I take the Jeep to a dealership to repair the second failed window regulator.

After speaking with a service representative at Power Jeep in Phoenix, AZ, it seems that window regulator failure is a common problem. Has Jeep even considered the possibility of covering window regulators as part of a recall, in the case that the part fails?

It is seriously unfortunate that I have to spend a large sum of money, almost the difference between the KJ and a 2004 Xterra I was considering when I purchased the KJ, on a problem that could be easily solved through better manufacturing.

I would like to mention that the KJ is the third Jeep I've owned. I have been a loyal customer of the brand and I would like to continue to do business with Jeep in the future. However, if the cost of petty repairs, such as faulty window regulators, is going to cause the price of the vehicle to exceed the cost of your competitors, I will be forced to start a relationship with a competitor that is focused on providing a higher quality product than what Jeep offers.

Thanks again for your prompt consideration of this matter.

Ok and as part of the campaign to get the dream world scenario to happen I'm posting the link to contact Chrysler.

http://www-5.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.jsp?screenName=recall&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm%28%27R%27%29

Click the send us an email link and it will open up a form which you can use to contact Jeep. If you've had an issue with the window regulator, regardless of whether or not you've had it repaired under warranty, at your own cost or replaced/rigged a fix up yourself, please consider taking the time to report the issue to Jeep in hopes that they will listen and decide to fix the underlying issue of improving a poorly manufactured part.

Thanks!

You must be jokin??? You are bitchin and sayin this is the LAST JEEP YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY ON but you've owned two others before this one  So if you felt you were wastin money on the other two jeeps why did you buy a third? I also challenge you to provide me with a competitors vehicle IN THE SAME CLASS as the KJ that is of the same qualilty it is. And no it sure as hell aint a XTerra asian made POS  I dont even OWN a KJ and Im fightin on its behalf

I honestly think it's a little lame to complain about stuff breaking on a 4 year old used car. it sucks, but that's the way it goes. the XTerra's a nice vehicle and all...but it's not like it's the end-all be-all in this segment. if it were it would've outsold the Liberty;)

Hey, why don't i cry to ChryCo for my tailgate rattling? after all, my KJ's only 5 1/2 years and 98,000 miles old

hey i complained to them about mine. Some of us cant stand rattling things like that. I had them fix my tailgate. And i see why hes mad, a window falling in the door isnt something you can just fix next week or something. It needs to be fixed asap, easy to break in without a window and if you get rain and not to mention thats not a cheap fix.

I understand him being upset about it...but crap happens. And I agree with the Chrysler folks about that...had he gotten it fixed at a dealer, they would've known it was fixed by somebody that KNOWS Chryslers. Not necessarily somebody that knows how to fix them RIGHT, but at least then they can somewhat guarantee the repair, therefore they can comfortably give him a reimbursement.

Like I said...it sucks, but if you don't want to pay for problems, get a NEW car.

Total spent on two previous jeeps in non-regular maintenance repairs ~$2k. One I owned for 10 years, the other for 5. 15 years @ $2k, not too bad.

3 months with the KJ $640. So I'm close to 1/3 of what I spent on the other two. The other two Jeeps were also purchased used.

Based on my experience with Jeep the quality is declining. So why should I buy Jeep over a competitor?

If you guys want to waste your money fixing stupid stuff, then so be it. It is your money, I'm not going to tell you what to do with it. But I'm going to try like hell to get Jeep to do something about a defective part. To me there is little difference in defective LBJs and window regulators. Afterall, they are both defective parts that cause the Jeep to funtion improperly.

Yes you are right, comparing a rattling tailgate to a window falling in your door is like apples to oranges.

A lbj compared to his window falling in is much more comparable because both you cant just leave it alone, both need to fixed, a rattling tailgate is a preference.

But even buying new your not garunteed no problems, my moms 02 intrepid was in and out of the dealership for the first month and it was brand new. Hood paint was messed up, speedo stopped workin, engine light came on. Things just happen.

Last time I checked, TJs were made to have to tops off and get wet if needed. I doubt the KJ would hold up the same way.

quit comparing a tj to a kj. Does that sound rational? no, they are completely differently made vehicles and you have made that clear many times on this forum so why stop now. Seriously this guy bought a used vehicle and has had to fork out $600 out of his pocket for poor engineering, so he came onto this forum to vent. He then did something about it and was trying to help out others who have had this simular problem and you continue to try and push his buttons.

People are allowed to get pissed off with their vehicles, theres no rule against it so leave him be.

I would be upset also-sometimes it's just bad luck,My neighbor and I own identical Honda Civics - The only difference is mine breaks all the time,It's leaking trany fluid as we speak because of a cheap bushing that doesn't hold the cv shaft in place causing fluid to blow around the seal-Again a $35 part and 1k in labor to remove and open up the case for repair.

The Nissan Xterra is American Made in Smyrna,Tennessee....also built in Brazil. They are built in China and Iran but have different names in those countries.

The Xterra isn't even made or sold in Japan.

You will have to call it an American-made POS.

Where do the parts come from on the xterra? Is it made or just assembled in America? Not dissing the xterra, I actually like them just not as much as my kj.

And the worse part is Nissan is owned by Renault which is French.

I just sent them an e-mail. I have an '07 and the windows struggle to go up and down after driving in dusty conditions. I just asked them if there was any lubricant or something they recommend to keep the window moving smoothly. The driver's side would hardly move after a while, so I got it fixed by the dealer. They said they had a TSB for it. I noticed some white grease on the edge of my window, but I'm not sure what else they did.
