That may be fine for on-road use. For off-road use, I would think a Jerry can + holder/strap would be a better bet.

For those with a 19 gal tank, how many of you have filled up over 15 gallons? I know when my EVIC says I am at 0 miles left, I still only fill it up to about 14.6 gallons.

I filled my tank when the milage reader said "0" and filled with 16.02 Gal. i would have thought the lib would have a bigger tank...

Don't forget that they changed the size of the tanks for `05 and they made the KJ with a large reserve tank for those far away off-road moments when you are low.

Thanks for the info., I thought it was 20.5 but I can only squeeze 18.5 in there, that is a huge reserve, 2 gallons!

My low fuel light came on on my way to work, so I thought I would test this for you folks. I hit the trip odometer right away and got 53.7 miles after the light came on. the test mule is a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport V6 4x4 with 255/70's. It was low traffic country road so I figure I was probably getting 18 miles per gallon so about 3 gallons were left in the tank when the light came on. That would account for not being able to fit more gas in the tank the 15.9 or whatever. I ran my Jeep untill it died (i know not the best thing in the world for it) but it did die in front of a gas station. Lucky me. I got 17.98 gallons in it.

most new cars if not all have the light come on with a couple gallons left to keep you from running out in the middle of no where.

If you're already in the middle of nowhere when the light comes on... Will you be in the middle of somewhere by the time you really need it :?: :D

I doubt the CRDs have a different tank so it seems the calibration could be hit or miss, my light and chime whent off one day and I pulled straight into a Shell and filled up w/ 19 gallons. I thought the reserve seemed small, so the next time the bell went off, I drove another 25 miles and then filled up with 19.9 gallons. I don't think I'll push it much more.

all the '05s and newer have a larger tank (20.5 gallons I believe whereas my '02 has a 18.5 gallon tank. I could be wrong on the years but I know that the newer Liberties have bigger tanks.
