Thanks Hey, welcome to my neck of the woods.. Unfortunately there are not many good wheelin spots here in OK.. unless you like red mud.. there MAY be some good trails over by Lawton in the mountains just a little west of there, I don't know if it is open to wheelin or not.. Let me know what you find out.. (not that I have time to go wheelin anymore. |

Hate to tell you but there is practically no good spots around lawton unless you can find someone with private land that has a good spot. For this reason I am moving to Colorado..well that and skiing. |

okay, well good luck on the move! that is a L O N G haul. Lawton is about 2 1/2 hours from Stillwater where I currently am but if you get real bored in that 2-3 days (probably not I realize you will be very busy) send me a PM and I will get some jeep friends together and maybe we can go wheelin' |

I was looking through some old posts and this was an answer I got when I asked the same question in 2002.. The Little Saraha Desert if your into dunes, theres the Kiamichi Mountains in Clayton, SE Oklahoma. Rock climbing around the Lawton area. Check out a local 4X4 club http://www.trailchasers.com/ Mostly flat here, alot of sand, clay and plenty of river runs. SE of the state for trails, SW for Rock climbing, North for Sand dunes. Everything is within 2 hrs of Oklahoma City, pretty country but not much elevation changes here in the Central part of the state. You could "drop in" to any one of the river bottoms near the city, but look out for the quicksand! Good Luck! Almost forgot, You may find some trails just SE of the city too; Lake Stanley Draper should have some trails to satisfy the itch. So there is still hope.. |
