So I finally ordered a lightbar, which should be hear tomorrow. What do I need to know before getting started? I fould a copy of the instructions online, they're just pictures, no words. Anyone know of a good write up? I know there have been several added.

NICE MAN.
I just ordered mine too. I am looking for a better install cut sheet my self. All it comes with is the picture sheet from mopar. When I get it, I am going to do the install and take GOOD pictures, and step by step instructions for every one to see. I know on here there really is not much of an install cut sheet for the light bar install

I just finished my install about a month ago...the instructions offer enough detail...the install took about an hour.

One thing I'd recommend that the instructions don't mention: After you get the little inserts in the holes, seal them with silicone before you bolt the light frame down.

ALso, make sure you have a selection of Torx screwdrivers. I believe you need a T20 and T25...but that's from memory, so I could be wrong.

guys

i just completed the install on my Sport Downunder, before you go cutting check a couple of things,

1 look under the hood in the relay/fuse box near the battery

check if the fuse for the light bar is already there, it was in my export KJ

2, pull the trim piece off thats below the aircon outlet on the drivers side the harness that the switch plugs into might be there

Image

Image

the other switch is for my driving lights ignore that,

3 remove the grab handle on the drivers side and take off that trim the plug that accepts the harness from the light bar might be there like this

Image

it was in mine

and finally if these things are there the light bar warning lamp will show up on your dash instead of using the LED that comes with the kit ( and you dont have to pull your dash apart either )

Thanks for the heads up. I know for sure that my 03 Sport did not come with that relay or harness by that air con molding peice. I had checked that a long time ago when I first saw your posting about your light bar.

Thank you for the heads up, It is always welcome here at L.O.S.T. even it is all ready knowen.

Farmdiesel - do you have a sunroof? I'm trying to find a picture of an 05 with the light bar and the sunroof because my wife is concerned about clearance, but I'm 99% sure I've seen an 05 with a sunroof and light bar, I just can't remember where...

Thanks,

Yea you can I saw one the other day. I was 3 sections of scafolding up, standing on the top bar of it and saw it. All I could think is man I think I like the silver instead of my green. But yes you can get lightbar and a sunroof from the factory.

I do not have a sun roof. But I saw a few that had both sun roof and the light bar. It kinda looks pretty sharp.

We I got it installed, finally. The advice on Torx drivers and beer was well appreciated. Fouros, I hope hope you realize how lucky you are to already have everything wired.

I ran into a little trouble connecting the harness that came down from the roof with the one that came through the firewall, but got it together. The biggest pain was find a socket to remove the grab bar on the A pillar. I had trouble finding a socket both deep enough and narrow enough to fit in the hole. I finally had to go to Autozone and bought a 5.5mm and a 7/32". Both worked, but the 5.5mm was a better fit.

I moved the LED from where they showed to mount it on the instrument cluster to just left of the switch. It required some slight modification, but that is why man invented the Dremel.

It took well over 5 hours to install, but no complaints because it was pitch black dark when I finished and I got to see it work in all its glory.

I would love a pic or two of the sunroof/ light bar combo. My wife tried to spec out that combination on the Jeep site and it wouldn't let her so she is convinced it can't be done. So I took her to Jeep the other night and out of the 40+ Liberties on the lot, I couldn't find one that had both, so she is now convinced she is right... Help!

I have a CRD as well. Did your CRD have the wiring all ready to just "plug and play" the light bar? Any pictures? Thanks.

I don't have a sunroof, and no, my CRD didn't have plug and play wiring. I wish...
