Hey all, I've been reading and posting in many of the threads on L.O.S.T. concerning seat problems and whatnot. Today I decided to tool around a bit and see what I could come up with, I was going to simply remove the seat & frame from the vehicle at first and simply put some spacers underneath it as some have recommended. Well I happen to realize something that I could never figure out. At the front of the seat above the positioning bar, there is a little plastic tab that has been hanging there since I bought the thing and I could never figure out what it was for. I actually pulled up on it and the seat fabric and cushion lifted off the frame below. Seeing as how I would simply just like to be able to get some more thigh support in the front of the seat, I decided to stuff a few USAF manuals I had underneath the exposed seat cushions to see if that would help. They ended up fitting perfectly and did raise the seat enough for me to be more comfortable than before. I took a quick spin to see how it worked out and it was better, although I did not get all the support that I really wanted. So I went back home and found some old beer bottles I was collecting and decided to stick those underneath the seat... low and behold they worked just he way I wanted! Call me crazy but I think anyone and everyone who doesn't have power seats should try this, you don't have to have beer bottles, just use whatever you can find and see how it works. I'll try to get some pics up as I'm sure I've confused some people |

Now all you need is a bullet proof cup to protect yourself when they smash! |

Well I didn't plan on keeping those in there too long, I just wanted to experiment with sticking stuff underneath the seat cushion to achieve the heigth I wanted for the front of the seat. Rest assured they are not under there now! Moral of the story (what I was trying to get at!) is that it is a pretty simple process to get underneath the seat cushion and stick something under there to lift the front of the seat to better support your knees/thighs while you drive. That has been my biggest issue with the Jeep as a whole as I was starting to experience knee pain just from driving across town. I did kinda think that someone would jump on me and thinking that I was constantly using empty beer bottles to rectify the problem, no sirs but I can understand how I would have given off that impression |

Oh I figured you would eventually replace them w/ something of similar height, just giving you a hard time. I am thinking of using some high density foam to raise it up some. I am curious if it will help me any? Thanks for the info as I hadn't thought to mess w/ trying to fix the seat height. |
