Hi guys-

I have recently gotten involved with the trail ride coordinators for this year's Camp Jeep at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI.

There is a need for 89 trail guides + alternates for this event, and currently the number stands at 73. At past events, people have dropped out last minute and all the alternates have been used, so you can see the dilemma at only having 73 currently.

In return for being a trail guide (no experience necessary), you get free admission to the event for your family as well as a hotel and fuel allowance.

You must be able to commit to attending a pre-run of the trails in June or July. You must also commit to arriving the day before the event, on August 9 and staying thru until the evening of Saturday August 12.

The sole other commitments are that you drive a Jeep vehicle (stock is ok too) with tow points front and rear and a 30' tow strap. You must also join the Wisconsin 4WD Association and United 4WD Association which is a modest $35.

If you think this is something you can commit to, please PM me for more information. Please don't respond if you are on the fence. I need firm commitments and calm, easy going personalities if I am going to bring you along to represent our club.

This is a tremendous opportunity for our club. Hopefully we can find a few more takers!

What an opportunity!!!!!!!
Maybe I could convince my parents to let me have a vacation up there before school starts for the Fall semester....Hotel, Fuel, Admission...All covered?!?!?!...wow....

Are the allowances covering the balance of the week arriving at any time on the 8 and then leaving the 11 or 12 or how exactly do you know?...Maybe I should PM this but thought i'd ask here in case others had the same question...

Well, first of all remember you will have to be there with your rig once in June or July as well, with no hotel and fuel allowance.

As for during the vent, I believe you get an allowance for 3 nights motel. You keep the proceeds whether you use them or not. Many will probably camp as there are a lot of campgrounds in the area.

Lostkj west did this in 2004 and had a great safe time and converted some folks. We also got publicity in Jeep magazine and Jeep's website. And it was just one of the coolest things to get to take part of. It does call for a lot of patience and a friendly attitude but it's well worth it. (took bad this one's so far) If you can do this, you should totally jump on this opprotunity!

I already signed up. Was out there last Sunday helping create the trails. Nice group of people. It was pretty cool walking around in the woods moving tree trunks and branches while a bunch of Porsches were zoomin by at 150+ on the Road America track.

This is a great opportunity for individuals and for LOST. Don't let the "Trail Guide" thing scare ya. Anybody with a little common sense can be a trail guide on many of these trails. An estimated 80% of Camp Jeep attendees have never been "off-roading", so a smooth path through the woods will be exciting. The trails are pretty wide and marked with ribbons so you would be hard pressed to get LOST :D There will be 3 Trail Guides for each group of 30ish Jeeps - 1 in the front, 1 in the middle and 1 in the back so you won't be out there by yourself.

Lets get a big LOST showing out there.

DonC

Just signed up over the weekend. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it up for the trail prep but I will be there for the June pre-run.

also, can you request to be an alternate?

With your renegade set up the way you have it, you are more than ready to hit every single trail - just got back from pre-run, more trail guides needed - please pm pixeldzn

I think we are at the point where you could be an alternate regardless. Still need 10 or so people.
