"Renegade" rack - whats special about it?

I am not sure what it is actually called but the Rene's usually have a cool looking extra plastic thing on their racks. I tried searching for more info about it but I couldn't find out exactly what it was and why they are different. Could anybody point me to more info about it. If it does have benefits has anybody put one on the Sport's rack?

I've seen a few on the Liberty sport, look kinda cool, I think the 02-04 should fit no problem 05-06 not sure if they changed anything

i dont think it will fit 05 or 06 renny because the roof rails are alot fatter, i think this is correct

Well i wanted to put it on my 06 sport. Does anybody know what the difference is over the stock ones. Like why is it so bulky? Does it have extra stuff for it?

I find my Renny roof rack limits me on what I can do with the cross bars. It's cool looking though i think.

I never really liked the Ren-rack, it always seemed gaudy to me.

So maybe go with like roof basket or something like that instead?

I'd take mine off and put on a roof basket....... but my rack is perfect for carrying my surfboards. Plus I love the RENEGADE stickers I put on it. Other than that it would be yanked off and smashed with a sledge hammer for all the darn sqeaky noises it loves to make. :twisted:

& don't forget where it wears through the paint at the front where it contacts the roof! I finally put some clear contact paper under the edges to protect the roof paint as it started to wear through.

I just bought one for my 03 sport from a guy in NJ and put it on my KJ a few days a go and it looks freaking awsome. Makes it look more BEEFY....
He had an 04 renny and it fit my 03 sport.
