Has anyone heard anything about, or tried to fit one of the chrysler V8s into a libby? Maybe the 318, 5.2?

Chrysler Shoehorned a 4.7L in one back in 2002 but it would not pass crash standards...the engine would push thru the firewall in a headon collision...that is the story.

Would be simpler to strengthen the bottom end (pistons with the rings mounted lower from the top ect.) and then add a supercharger. I am sure one day someone will stroke a 3.7L and get some ponies out of one.

What did the 4.7 come out of? Is that the Grand Cherokee V8? I didn;t know chrysler made anything other than the 319 and 360

They started using it in 99, where have you been? They use it in the rams, durangos, grand cherokee and the dakotas. It seems to be a good engine. The 3.7 in the libbys is the same engine, its just missing 2 pistons. It even uses the same v-belt.

The last experience I have with the chrysler v8s was my 96 Ram. Sorry :P I tend to not follow technology advances unless they effect me.

By the time my 3.7 dies, I just might be able to find a cheap 4.7 in something used. v8 Libby baby!

How does you jeep do with those tires? Mine does ok with the ones I have now and would do alot better if I didnt have the steel rims Im sure. I cannot tell just driving around in the city but going up hills it downshifts alot more. Brakes seem to be about the same, can tell alittle though.

I have a standard, 5-spd.

5th might as well not be here. I use it on the highway going flat, but any incline at all, or to gain any speed to pass, I have to D/S to 4th.

I'm ok with it. If the oppotunity ever arrives to get the 4:27(?) gearset, I'd like to. Or if the engine ever dies, I'd love to find an old v8 and stick it in instead of the 3.7.

I've heard rumors of there being one somewhere in Pennsylvania.
