I have replaced 3 CV boots and now I have had to replace a CV shaft now because the torn boots have let too much dirt in. Is there something I can do to prevent from going through so many CV boots? I would hate to have to budget 200 dollars every 6 months for CV boots. |

Try spraying the boots w/ silicone spray (W/OUT petroleum distillates). It should help to cut down on the friction of them rubbing against themselves due to the angle of them. I periodically hit mine w/ it on both my KJ's and so far so good. |

A couple of questions, first is the Frankinlift a possible cause for the torn boots?-I'm still up in the air which lift to buy either the frankinlift or rusty's coil lift, also why don't you recommend the powertrax no-slip with the manual trans.? Thanks.. |

I have over 25k mile son my Frankenlift and No CV boot probs so far. I did just swap the lift to my wifes 04 though so I will be keeping an eye on it. |

I don't know if the franken lift is causing the torn boots. I go offroading in sand and rocks (mixed together) and sometimes have to bury the wheels a little to get where I am going. Does anyone know of a way I could maybe shield my CV boots from damage by rocks and sand? |

Might need to add some kinda bumpstop that catches the UCA before it fully droops to make the angle of the CVJoint and CVBoot better over the long run...or if you can drop the clevis a little (if you adjusted it upwards)...the problem is for ANY LIFT, not all KJs are built alike. Some sit higher (not talking about prelowered or anything) and others turn out different with each lift. Sometimes it is the alignment settings that affect the LCA position...so many variables. Even the condition of the LBJs and camber can cause problems. I would try to find a way to take a little height out and see what happens. |

So true about the alignment. My CV angles look much better after adding Al's UCAs and getting the alignment set correctly. They are pretty close to the angle they were at stock except rotated 180 degrees. |

Not sure what to tell you. I have been lifted for 40,000 miles without boot problems. The last 12,000 or so have been with the Frankenlift and my CV angles are better than before since adding Al's control arms. |

My CV boot just pulled off with the band clamp still in place. Will an adjustable screw type band clamp work as a replacement, or do I have to get the whole boot kit ? |

Hmm, I have not adjusted the cleavis for more height. And the place I take my jeep to for service said that it aligned correctly. I trust him since I have yet to see his over the phone support for vehicle problems be wrong. (and I have called him a good many times) My jeep with stock tires seemed to me to be the same height as Eddo's jeep (and I think he has either his own kit, or rusties) but I thought that was just the difference of the franken lift. I have been thinking about adding Al's control arms and LBJ's. Maybe I should try that and consider it a possible fix. |
