I thought for sure it was a wheelbearing. its a warble warble warble commoing from the front noticable at everyspeed. does it in 2wd, 4wd, and in neutral coasting. tried to rotate the tires.. replaced the front right ( sounds louder there??) wheel bearing, and its till there, planning the other side, but at 180.00 a piece.. its gonna get old. best thing is, found a bad right lower balljoint. yeah yeah yeah Ive read the balljoint posts numerous times, and avoided it.

The bearings are only $180 a piece? I thought they were more like $400.

Does the sound vary with speed? If so, I have had that same sound for months now, took it to the dealer and they said it was the left front wheel bearing and like you I changed it out myself, even though deep down I kinda knew a wheel bearing wasan't going to fix it. I still have the sound. I have tested the front end by lifting one tire at a time and rotating each one separately. I found the sound is loudest from the right side of the differential. I am still under warranty, but really don't want to take it to the dealer, last time all they could say was negative about my Frankenlift. I am contemplating trying another dealer or taking out the front differential myself and installing a Detroit TT while I have it out.

Design for assembly became more important than design for service. The wheel bearing doesn't get replaced, the ENTIRE HUB gets replaced. The hub-bearing assembly is not servicable.

Rockauto dot com has the non ABS hub for $161 and the ABS model for $165.

It also helps to make friends with the owner of a napa store. I got a front hub/bearing for $107.
