I'm very frustrated and ready to rant, so without naming names, I'll run things down for the board. Then ya'll can help me decide how to address this issue. The middle of May, I contacted a semi local company to purchase some parts. In good faith, at that time I gave them my credit card number to charge $1300.00 for the parts. After about two weeks my credit card still hadn't been billed, so I called to see what was up. The next day I finally got a return call and got my "order" placed. Since then I've called on numerous occasions and there has always been an excuse about where the parts are. I've also asked to purchase some other parts, which I'm not even sure if they even remember talking to me about them. Anyway, I was ready to spend another $500 to $600 with this company, but I'm seriously having my doubts. As I stated earlier, this started in the middle of May and it's now almost August. I've cancelled wheeling trips, family fun, and a vacation to pick up these parts.........now I'm tired of waiting. Oh yeah, everytime I call, it's like they have never talked to me before. I'm over it, should I just ask for my money to be restored to my credit card? Maybe they are just busy, but to me it's just bad business. |

This is a tough situation; especially if they are the only ones who can get the parts for you. But if I were the one dealing with this I would demand action or demand a refund. If they say they have the parts somewhere, or they are in shipping; ask for the freight company and pro#, or shipping co and tracking#. I have dealt with a similar situation to the tune of $400 and only got a response when I called once per hour until the issue was resolved. Your card should not have been charged if the items were backordered or unavailable, this company has some issues. But whatever you do, dont get lippy and piss them off, I never respond when I deal with customers like that. (I run a shipping/recieving department) If they are not willing to tell you exactly what the situation is then they are hiding something and it wont be good when it surfaces. Lastly, if they say they will call you back, they wont, and you should call them instead. |

If you can get the parts at another place I wouldnt wait another second and get your money back. But if its like Miah said and this is the only place to get them then you have no other choice. What are the parts for? The libby? Are they something that must be machined? What reasons are they giving for the delay? |

From May to the end of July with no stuff? Get your money back and if they're cranky about it I'd recomend reporting them to the BBB. Good luck. Some businesses will listen to them pretty darn quick when they're been ignoring you. |

Actually there is a federal law in place here. If they gave you a ship date they need to ship it within 30 days of that date if I am not mistaken. If they did not give you a date then I believe they have 90 days. Check the state AG's office. |

I don't know....seems like the norm when dealing with smaller specialty 4x4 shops... They can't build and stock everything they sell at all times, so there is bound to be a wait. Their "in shop" demand will change...which in turn will impact their ability to manufacture and ship product. I've been waiting for about 6 weeks for a skid from a nationaly recognized and heavily advertised company to send me a skid for my ZJ and It just seems like it takes as long as it takes....evidentally it will be another 2 weeks If I owned a TJ I'd expect to have 5 different vendors for the same product and nearly instant shipping but since I have a KJ and a ZJ I'll just have to wait! If you can get the parts from another source faster then cancell the order and go elsewhere. Chances are you will have to wait for the new vendor to make and ship your stuff becuse it's not instock in their shop too ! Hope you get your parts...I hope I get mine for that matter !! |

Regardless if these parts are special ordered or not, there is no excuse not to give you the details of the situation. Let alone they should not have billed your card unless they were certain they could manufacture the parts in a timely fashion. As Miah said, try to get a shipping # or Freight # to prove that the parts have been ordered or shipped. If they can’t give you that then ask to speak to the manufacturer who is producing the parts. You may want to get some type of guaranteed response that the parts are in process, being built, or on their way to you. |

Firstly, since no goods rec'd, get credit card to reverse charge back. Did you do order over phone? Secondly, tell us who the vendor is so we don't get sucked in as well. I have seen forums become great venues to warn others and some vendors all of a sudden meet their customer commitments when they hear they are getting a bad rep on the net. The BBB is a non regulatory body... no enforcement ability so they just warn others who check with them if the co. is a good and fair in dealing with customers. |

I wouldn't recommend purchasing anything from Carolina Rock Shop. They have had $1300 of my money for over three months. Phone calls do not get returned and I don't have any parts in my possession. They have the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. Buyer beware. James "Mutt" Frey Elizabeth City, NC 27909 |

My name, address, and phone number are included so I'm not an anonymous attacker on their business. I'd go walking in there if it wasn't over five hours away. |

James "Mutt" Frey Hey Mutt, You should remove your address and phone number. The vendor will know who you are by your name, city and state. It's not a good practice to have your address and phone number available to anyone on the web -- not safe at all!!! |

This isn't the only board I've posted my displeasue on. http://www.nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13135 Heather, thanks for your concern. Have you ever seen what a pissed off redneck who bench presses four hundred pounds is capable of when someone shows up at his house?

Even though you can beat the poo poo out of everyone on this board, I still wouldnt let people know where I live. It can get alittle strange when people start calling you in the wee hours of the night, or start showing up at your house. 400lbs, psshhhtt, thats nothing. |

Hope you get your parts....It sucks to have to wait on stuff you've already paid for. SkidRow's got some of my cash..I have none of their skids yet. At least they've picked up the phone. Good luck |
