Hi all,

I understand that one of the reasons Moog LBJs are superior to stock is that they are re-grease-able via the handy-dandy zerk fittings. My questions is this - how does one determine if and when this needs to be done? I ask because my desire to perform under-body car maintenance is probably less than many of yours. If I'm going to need to lube the ball joints frequently, I'm probably not interested in making the switch (obviously 'frequently' is a relative term - I realize it would depend on miles driven, conditions, etc).. If it's just something I can ask to be done every so often during regular service, then I'm in. Thoughts?

Definitely after each time you are offroad, not sure what the interval should be beyond that. I wouldn't rush right out and replace the ball joints right yet, you've got a free set coming in September, courtesy of DC.

I would recommend lubing them every time you change your oil. It only takes 2 minutes if that, and it's much less dirty of a job. Just get a cheap grease gun, stick it on the fitting, give it one good squeeze, repeat on other side and your done. Easy as pie! No fuss, no muss.

True, but from what I hear those could be a crapshoot! Thanks for responding.

I dunno, if DC is willing to spend the money to recall EVERY Liberty to put in new balljoints, I have to believe that they will at least not fail as quickly as the old ones. I doubt they will be as nice as moogs, but they will definitely be engineered to the point where it's worth the cost of a full-model recall. It would be a senseless waste of money and man-hours to bring in every Liberty just to install another balljoint that will continue to fail. At this point, DC wants to make good on the problem, since it's all over the news.

I do not believe that one bit. This is the third time that I can remember theyve had balljoint problems. They recalled tons of dakotas and durangos, recalled the 2002-some03 libbys, and now this?!?! I think DC has lost their mind.  I always try to take up for them, but this has me really upset.

My thoughts exactly.

Grease the balljoints every 5k miles or so and you should be good.
