Post subject:  Fender flares... Will Ren's fit stock?

Hey everyone..
I was wondering.. how hard is it to install the ren' fender flares on a lib sport? I know the ren has the like bullet hole look to it, and I really like that.... but how hard are they to swap?
Thanks!
Jason

They will just bolt in, the "bullet holes" are not how they are mounted. The mounting holes are the same in the spot, with the rivets.

anyone know of a cheap way to get ahold of some renny flares? I know you can go through the dealer but I was hoping I wasn't going to spend over $400

You might want to check out some of the sites listed in this thread: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... php?t=6020 A few of them have a large number of parts for the KJ, others not so many.

I did the conversion and believe it or not the cheapest way to go is the dealer.....about 280 for the whole set of flares

I've also been considering doing this becuase the paint on my fenders is very chipped from rocks and looks not so great. So rather than bringing it to be redone at a body shop, I do like the renegade flares. My question is for a limited edition 2002, would I buy any flares and have them painted or is there untreated ready to be painted ones? No matter what, they would need to be painted since they didnt make renegades in woodland brown satin glow.

the flares need to be primed and painted since when you buy them they are just naked and have nothing on them

edit: looking at your signature...whats the story behind that?! I hope you keeping the kj

Oh Ok. Thats what I figured but wasnt quite sure how they were shipped. And for the story on my Jeep, here's the link: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=106492#106492
I didnt think about it much and was expecting a car that does everything perfectly. I realized I love this thing and couldnt sell it purely for gas mileage. Anyway, thats the condensed version, I dont want to hijack this thread.

If you don't want to spend the whole cost of buying new flares, I bet you could remove the flares you have and paint them a contrasting color pretty cheaply - Either rattle-can or maybe a rhino-line or other bedliner type thing. That would be really original and look sweet. Another alternative is to try to fit 2005+ renegade flares on there. Since they are plastic, no painting is needed. Probably still expensive, though.

I was wanting to get Renegade flares for my Sport too...until my dealer told me the little fake metal rivets had to be ordered separately at around $65 for five of them! Does anybody know if it's true that Renegade flares come without those rivets already attached?

I wonder how well the rhino-liner would stick to the plasic. I think it would have to be painted first?

The service manual says nothing about installing the fake rivets, so I'm sure they come preinstalled in the fender flare. However, they may also sell the rivets individually in case one gets torn off and you need to replace it. Maybe when you buy the flares everything comes as one piece but you're charged for each component of that piece seperately.
