Post subject:  Dealers Could Care Less

I'm very very irritated right now. I brought in my Jeep today to get the rear liftgate fixed and have the handle replaced (since I broke it  ). Anyway, since I know what the problem is, I called in advance and had them order the part and have it delivered so it would already be there to be put in. I take the day off from work, drive 40 min and get to the service department (at Performance Chrysler Jeep if youre wondering), and wait around for 45 min. Then the service lady comes out and tells me they ordered the wrong part! Thats why I ordered it! So then she tells me that the service would be free of charge. I thought oh wow cool. So I started thinking about it and decide to call her back. She says I misunderstood her and that the handle (which I had already paid for) would be free when they ordered it. It wasnt free! I already paid for it! Then she says I'll still have to pay labor to get it installed. By my math, they was over $100 of mine between time and gas. All I got was a free car wash. So much for customer satisfaction. The only plus was looking at the Rubicons there.

Yup-typical. Dealers mystify me. I went today because my ABS light when on. According to the SM, the OBD will kick a code, but my scanner wont read it. The dealer said they would want $84 just to pull the code?!? Tried some other scanners and none pulled the code so I'm stuck having to have them do tomorrow. :x

I've been in sales most of my life and I am constantly amazed by the attitudes of people on the inside of organizations (worker bees and managers) who would trip over dimes or insult clients for not understanding our business and then making them pay. I don't believe that sales is a giveaway game but getting a new client costs thousands more than keeping an existing one happy and the trade off for the $100 handle that cost them $50 against the next new car sale or the $3K repair job is poor MBA math.

Post subject:  OK Im venting

Im with you on that. Im in the customer service business and would not think of doing (screw you over) what the DC dealers do and try to get away with. It seems they are getting squeezed and have are squeezing us and to what end, a complete loss of return customers. Im sorry - But Im done with my dealer and DC for that matter, Its not worth the aggrivation. I just want a straight answer - Tell me the truth, I know nothing is perfect and I want to buy a jeep. I will pay as long as it gets done and done right.
