Post subject:  Hesitation when Starting

I have what I think is a problem. I notice that when I start up my 2004 KJ in the morning there is hesitation. I hear the starter clicking but it takes a while for the engine to turn. This only happens in the morning or when the car has been sitting for over 6 hours or so. I also notice that it is worse when it is hot outside.

I have replaced the battery and the spark plugs and still having the problem. So this leads me to believe that it has something to do with the fuel delivery. It is a 2004 with 45k miles.

Any ideas on what I should do???

perhaps have the fuel pump checked out make sure it is getting fuel into the engine...check your coolant and make sure there is enough of that in (most likely not the problem but good to check anyway b/c of the heat)...maybe the battery cables are going bad...we had to replace the ones on my sister's 01 Pt Cruiser last summer because of the heat, the battery acid would leak out, and then corroded the battery cables so much that the car eventually wouldn't start...hopefully she has learned to take better care of her car...maybe I should check it out when I get off work tomorrow

I talked to my mechanic and next week I am going to take it to him. He's goig to connect a sensor and see if the fuel pump is creating the right pressure.

Haven't gone to the mechanic yet but I started to use Chevron which in my opinion is the best gasoline and now it doesn't hesitate as much, but when I fill up now the fuel gauge doesn't go all the way to full. It only reaches 7/8ths of a tank.
