Has anyone used this stuff on their KJ? On the website it says it's compatible with GM's Dex-Cool, but I also remember reading before that DC uses a special coolant for its vehicles. If you notice, our coolant is reddish-orange rather than green like the other stuff. Apparently our coolant has "Organic Acid Technology" (OAT) with the difference from Dex-Cool being that DC's version contains silicates for extra protection on aluminum parts. I found this: http://www.babcox.com/editorial/tr/tr110046.htm regarding coolant chemistry And here is Royal Purple's product. http://www.royalpurple.com/prodsa/prpice.html Any chemists here wanna tackle this? |

I have been using the royal purple for a while now, doesn't seem to be too bad. I used water wetter before I flushed. The over flow tank got all this grease like subtance at the water line, and it was a real bear to get it out. I do not know if if it was the water wetter, or the antifreeze from the factory. The factory antifreeze wasn't that old (year wise anyway). I use the shell rotella compatible with all antifreeze stuff now, along with the purple stuff, its much cleaner and there is no residue in the holding tank. 90 degree camp jeep weather, trail riding with the a/c on last year, temp held steady the entire ride!
