Would someone please look at their 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport owner's manual and tell me which fuse is the one I need to pull for the cigarette lighter/ac power plug? Fiancee' and I bought a small b/w tv for hurricane season from CVS and it blew out the fuses in both vehicles. heheheheh Also a picture and or diagram for future reference would be awesome. Thanks |

The diagram on the fuse box lid will tell you. The power outlet in the back may be a higher rated plug. |

The diagram on the back of the lid only shows the fuse number listing such as a 15 amp or 20 amp, not relation to what the particular fuse controls. I need a diagram from the owners manual (which my used Jeep did not come with) to show me which to pull........ This plug is the one below the stereo. I haven't used the other one you are talking about. |

According to the service manual it's this one: Open the lid of the fuse box (hinges towards you as you look at the back of the KJ). The farthest away row of fuses, third from the left side. It's a 50 A fuse, right beside a 15 A fuse. Does your horn not work either right now? The manual indicates that the horn is run through the same fuse as the cigar lighter and power outlet. |

The fuse box I am looking at is behind the steering column, next to the driver side door hinge. Horn works fine. A friend found a 15 amp fuse blown in this panel a few weeks ago, but I don't remember which he pulled. Also, her Honda Accord shows the diagram of the fuse panel on the cover, so I knew which to pull, and sure enough, blown. Am I looking at the wrong thing? |

Okay, sorry, you're looking at the "Junction Block." The rear power outlet is powered singly by fuse #1, top left 20 A fuse. |

I just rechecked the book: Fuse #1 is for the FRONT power outlet (cigar lighter). Fuse # 16 is for the rear outlet. Fuse #3 is for the horn. Sorry for the confusion. |

There was a thread while back about how some OM's are wrong about the fuses. My 04 was one of them. Someone found a correct copy and pasted it on here, I printed it off but didnt save it. |

You should be able to see which one is blown just by looking, the blade type fuses blow right between the numbers on the fuse usually. The one with the gap is the bad one. |

On a similar note, I noticed that on my '06 the owner's manual states that the rear power outlet has constant power regardless of the ignition switch position but the front one is controlled by the switch. Only thing is, both of mine stay on constantly. I haven't bothered to see if the front one will cut off after the 15 minutes or so that the battery saver trips but it will definitely stay on after the ignition switch is off. Anyone else noticed this? |

It's weird to call everything a cigarette lighter, since most cars these days don't even come with an actual lighter at all. I've seen car makers call them "DC Power Socket" "Accessory Port" among other marketing-ese names. "AC Power Socket" definitely not, since it's not even A/C power. Actually, the reason I opened the thread was because I was excited at the idea that somebody mounted a power inverter and installed an A/C power socket (wall socket) in the jeep. I've been thinking of doing that, but I was worried about the heat that an inverter might generate (since I was going to install it under one of the trim panels in the cargo area and run wires for outlets). |

The Mopar Parts system still calls them by the old name. "Cigar Lighter" I can't ever remember seeing anyone trying to light a cigar with one of those things... |
