| Post subject: | AC Problems |
I was traveling in the rain with the defroster on when the airflow from the vents stopped. There was no flow, regardless of the fan speed. I changed the setting to the dash vents and the air started blowing again, eventually. When I returned the switch to the defroster setting the flow stopped again. I decided that the ac core must be freezing and blocking the flow of air. I've never experienced this before. During my troubleshooting I also determined that the AC clutch was engaged when the selector was on the floor vent, which as far as I can tell is not supposed to be the case. Anyone else had either of these problems. |

I'm gong to move this into general discussion where you'll have a better chance of getting a response. Good luck. |

If to '06 has the same control panel that the '05s do (and mine after the dealer replaced the defective original) then it shouldn't matter what position the vent selector is in, the A/C clutch should be controlled by the A/C button (looks like a snowflake.) The exception to this is in defrost mode when the compressor will run regardless of the a/c switch setting. Sounds to me like you have a vacuum hose problem, as the vents are controlled by vacuum actuators. |

The jeep's currently at the dealer. there is a bad mixing door, part ordered, and some as yet unidentified electrical problems. |

I have never had any air come out of the front vents while the defroster is on. It's always been the vents by the windshield & front side windows and also the floor (when selected). It also always seems to function fine when I use it. Is there something I'm missing here? Or did I maybe read your post wrong? |
