I would like to thank all the LOST members that attended Camp Jeep 2006 for making my wife and I feel welcome hanging out with you guys... wish we had more time to get aquainted, but we definately had fun!!!

I'll post up our pics at a later time... I'm extremely busy catching up on my work after missing a week...

It was great to see so many KJ's out on the trail... stock or not...

plus, we didn't hear any snide comments from other jeepers at all.. in fact, i think they were pretty impressed with our rig considering we made it through all of the tough stuff without problems... especially the rock wall on trail 5 and the mud/rock bog on trail 6... 8)

it was great to hear cheers as we conquered the tougher obstacles that other jeeps had problems with... we even heard things like "First KJ to make it!!" and "Oooh, it's a Renegade" as we drove by the crowds gathering at those 2 formidable obstacles...

one of the trail guides with an extremely built up TJ was following us when we drove so effortlessly over the rock wall... we later walked up to my window and asked "Are you locked?" i said "Yep, rear axle"... he said "OK, i was wondering how you just walked right over that... this thing looks really nice, good job"... that comment right there just made my day

Some of the other highlights of the trip included driving an '07 four door Wrangler Rubicon(awesome vehicle!!), going 120 MPH aroung a race track in a Grand Cherokee SRT8, driving our KJ in the Owner Playground, and of course, Trail Rides

all in all, it was a good trip, and well worth it.

Mark

Glad you had a good time Mark. My daughter & I enjoyed guiding (OK, she liked the scuba pool & BMX track better, but she had fun on the trails too) and helping make Camp Jeep trail rides positive for a bunch of new off roaders. Thanks for putting out the call Don!

This was our first time at Camp Jeep and my husband & I had a blast. Since we're new to off-roading, we only did the scenic trails. For a novice, trails 11 & 12 were pretty challenging. The trail guides were really good with helping out a newbie. We didn't get to do much in the playground, we bent the passenger side side rail going in. Thanks to the gal guiding us in, we managed to jam a rock between the step and front wheel which pushed the whole thing into the rear tire. We ended up having some green shirts remove darn thing. Needless to say, as soon as I can swing it - I'm getting some real rock rails put on!

12 should have been intermediate. I had to pound my diff skid plate flat after running it in reverse. An I used the Skink Sliders several times each trip (not that I had to, but since I could take different tracks) - Those things Rock!

CJ 2006 was definetly the best vacation I have ever taken. If you have not been to one- make sure you get out there next year. I had a blast hanging out with you guys. I am currently trying to fins someplace to host my pics (~100mb)... I took pictures of everything!

Yup, that was us. Not my idea of fun for starting off our first Camp Jeep. Nick, one of the green shirts, guided us out (amazing how easy it is when you've got someone who knows what they're doing guiding you!) We then had a tough time shifting back down, we thought something got messed up with the trans, too. We finally got it back into 2HI. A couple of the trail guides checked it out for us before out first trail run on 9 and said everything looked fine. We had no other problems the rest of the weekend.

Being my first CJ and also being a trail guide was a whole new adventure for me as well....
Amazingly, being a lot easier than our normal trail rides, CJ gave me the worst trail scars - I ended up backing into a tree and breaking the tail light + some bumper damage too
Was nice to see so many KJs on the trails too and seeing some of the modified ones was also nice....
I'm not missing any other CJ at all....

Would you guys who have been to both, say that CJ is better than the Jeep Jams?

Were there many nicely mod'ed KJ owners there that were not a part of LOST? Did you promote?

I heard those are more for offroading than family Fest/fun
Definetly no Glass Etching at Jeep Jam. :D

No. Yes.

NOTE: Next year we should pass out hand bills to all the KJs in the parking lot and at the trail runs (we'll get a lot more in the lots)

CJ was great. There was definitely a good turn out of LOST Midwest members. Guiding vs' being a participant is a different experience. Trail 5 did rock!!!! Not to mention we basically turned trails 4,5, and 6 into a circuit, time permitting. Hope they have another CJ in our neck of the woods.

Hey Mark, I think I was one of the trail guides when you took that rock wall on trail 5. You did real well on that. I don't think you even touched your skids or rock rails. Only wish I had my camera when you did it. For that matter I wish I had a picture when I went over it on Saturday.

I DON'T have lockers, so I begged off of the wall, on trail 5. That was Thursday night, before they closed off part of the trail. However, I DID go throught the mud/rock/bog. (BTW, I heard they closed off that portion of the trail Friday. (On Trail 5) I Had to be pulled off of one rock. (I'm so ashamed). But made it through the rest, with NO paint on the trees :D

I was toward the end of the line, so when I finally came out, there was a LOUD round of applause. Made me feel kinda GOOD, considering I'm a newbie AND stock :)

I actually thought trail 1 was EASIER than 5. (Probably because of the 'battle rattle' during the bog)

OK. For next year - 1 set of Boulder Bars
1 Frankenlift
5 245/75 tires.
4.10 gears front and back
1 smile on my face.
NO money to get there, because of all the $ I'll spend, getting it ready.

The only thing I enjoyed more, was the grin on my father's face, after we went out on the track with the SRT8 driver.
(My mother, however, did NOT grin..........something about letting my 70 year old father get into a car that topped 120mph)
Oh, well. I've heard it's easier to get forgiveness, than it is permission.........

So far, the forgiveness isn't forthcoming

we did the mud/rock/bog on both friday and saturday (saturday's run was the last trail ride of camp jeep) so i didn't think they closed it... i do know that there were a lot more "stucks" on saturday because the ruts got deeper...
