My emergency brake is not so much a brake any more...It is rather, a noisey click lever. Do I have to replace the cable, as it is streched out.. or the e brake shoes? I can pull it up around 9 or 10 clicks or so and the car still rolls. |

Mine did the same thing. With the disk brake rear end, the e-brake is actually a drum set up inside the disk. To adjust, pull up on the brake lever three clicks. Jack up the rear end (use jack stands), put hte vehicle in neutral. Crawl under with a drum brake adjusting spoon (the angle of the spoon makes it way easier than using a screw driver. There is a black rubber rectanglular plug on the backing plate, that is the adjusting port for the ebrake. Tighten each adjuster so you cannot run the wheel forward or back. Release the parking brake and make sure there is no drag. Reset the brake about three clicks, and check to make sure you cannot turn the sheels by hand. |

Must be a new england thing, my ebrake is the same way. I've actually run out of clicks and had it not engage before. It'll be nice having it back down to 3 clicks again (was it ever down at 3 clicks? I dunno) |

I had mine in for the e-brake twice because it wasn't working. I could pull it all the way up and still drive away. The second time they replaced the lever assembly. It is better now - only a few clicks and the e-brake is locked tight. This was last year with only 10 - 12 K miles on my '03. Lever replaced under warranty. |

I had to do this. Never thought about the 3 clicks thing though, that a good idea! |

I read somewhere on this site that the e-brake is auto adjustable by pulling the leaver up a vew clicks and reverse a view yards. |

I 've had to replace the rear rotors and shoes to get my e-brake back to working. Adjustments just weren't doing it and the rotors had rust/wear so new pads alone just didn't do it. |
