I have an '05 Liberty. I was wondering if there was a kit like the one for Chevy pick up (theirs allows the low and high beam to stay on). As soon as the high beams are chicked on, fog lights go off.

First question why do you want to keep them on.

And in most states it will not pass inspection if they do not go off with the high beams.

Exactly, in most states you are allowed to have 4 lamps burning at one time. The issue here is that high beams are considered 4. It gets a little weird when you have a 4 headlamp system because then you are allowed to keep the lowbeams on with the highbeam lamps. Foglamps are never allowed on with the highbeams. In Virginia you are allowed to run driving lamps, not fog, while the highbeams are on IF you have a two lamp system and they all have to work on relays with the factory highbeam switch.

Oh man I love florida no state inspections! But I wish i new how to disable that aswell I have my Hella's on its own realy so its not involved with the highbeams i think that wouldnt pass inspection in some states.

But from what I here the Export model KJ's can have the fog lights and the high beams on.

i know in my 03 freedom edition i can click the highs on, drive for a second and then click the lever back and hold it there and my fogs will go back on and leave the highs on.

Gets a bit tricky on a winding road when i'm holding the lever and ready to switch all my add-on lights off when i see light coming from around a corner.

I'd rather this then hit a deer in the middle of a winding road pretty much in the woods at night...not what i want to go through on my way home from work...

Haha, I know what you mean. I usually keep my hand on my switches so I can turn them off in a blind turn. Ive seen many animals that I wouldnt of seen without my hellas. I think ive seen a few deer too.

It just requires just a little bit of wiring under the hood.

Supplies need
1 auto Relay 20amp min.
14 gage wire
18 gage wire
2 fuse holders
1 15amp fuse
1 1-2amp fuse

See this schematic from KC Hi-Lites. This is for their back-up lights but it’s the same circuit. Follow my directions below. http://www.kchilites.com/faq/instructions/517_backup.pdf

The power lead Terminal 30 on the relay goes to the battery. For the fac. Fogs only use a 15amp fuse. Terminal 87 hooks to the power lead on the fog lights. You can use scotch locks to make the connection. Use 14gage wire for both of these connections.

Terminal 85 the white wire in the diagram hooks to the High Beam power lead. You will want a 1-2amp fuse on this to protect the factory lights. Lastly 86 goes to ground. The 18gage wire is used here. If you are interested in being able to turn this feature on and off. You can mount a switch inside and run the white wire thru it.

If you have state inspections to deal with just unplug the relay. If you have any questions just let me know.

I put a britebox on ours. I haven't added the driving lights yet but the wife loves having both high and low beams on. The new brite box has the ability to keep the driving lights on with the high beams as well as the lows. Lots of light for those country roads...

Guess I'm glad Washington doesn't do inspections either.

Will this trick work for an '03? I noticed my fogs go out also when the high beam is on.

Are you talking about my custom wiring? Yep this will work on all vehicles. When the high beams are on. Power feeds thru the white wire to the relay turning it on. The relay then draws power from the battery an feeds it to the fog lights.

I will say this will void any electrical warranty you have if DC finds out.

Detailed Description
The BRITE BOX™ is a self contained device that greatly contributes to driving safety on dark roads by improving both the output and coverage of standard vehicle headlights.

All vehicle headlights have two distinct beam patterns: low beam for close range illumination, and high beam for long range illumination. In most vehicles, when the high beams are activated, the low beams shut off. The resulting choice of "near" vs. "far" illumination compromises safety and comfort because at a maximum, only 54% of the vehicle's lighting potential is being used at any given time. Installing brighter headlight bulbs does little to help because the coverage of the headlights is still compromised. So, how does one solve this problem?

Enter the BRITE BOX™. The Brite Box illuminates the low beams when the high beams are activated which allows 100% of the lighting potential of the vehicle to be utilized. Brite Box provides an even carpet of light that stretches from near to far. Safety and comfort are improved because the driver can now see a larger portion of the road. The safety benefits and circuitry of Brite Box™ has been proven in millions of miles of over the road testing, and is used by law enforcement and transportation companies.

Brite Box features easy plug in installation (in most vehicles) and can usually be installed in 30 minutes or less. There are Brite Box models available to fit most domestic cars, light trucks, and sport utility vehicles (SUV's) manufactured from 1976 - 2004.

BEFORE BRITE BOX™:

Low Beams Turn OFF When High Beams Are Turned On. Note Poor Illumination Directly In Front Of And To Sides Of Vehicle.

AFTER BRITE BOX™:

Low Beams Stay ON - Automatically When High Beams Are On!Note Increase In Headlight OUTPUT AND COVERAGE!

NEW! Fog Light Control Units are Now Available!

FLC stands for "Fog Light Control", making these the most powerful Brite Boxes we have ever made.
As delivered from the factory, the low beams AND factory installed fog lights of your truck turn off when you go to high beam, Brite Boxes with FLC keeps the low beams and fog lights on with your high beams.
FLC is safe and does not overtax your stock electrical components.
With FLC you get MAXIMIUM light output for the safest night driving possible!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Is Brite Box difficult to install?

A: Brite Boxes are among the easiest of all auto accessories to install. Installation time for the do-it-yourselfer averages about 30 minutes and requires only a few common hand tools.

Q: Is Brite Box difficult to operate?

A: Once installed, Brite Box is FULLY AUTOMATIC with no switches or controls to operate.

Q: Do I need special headlights with Brite Box?

A: NO. Brite Box works with your STOCK headlights - no replacement or modifications required.

Q: Do I need special headlight bulbs with Brite Box?

A: NO. Brite Box works with your STOCK headlight bulbs - no replacement or modifications required.

Q: How does Brite Box affect bulb life?

A: In millions of miles of on road testing (with thousands of Brite Boxes), we have found no negative effect on bulb life in vehicles that have had Brite Box installed.

Q: Is Brite Box legal?

A: YES. Brite Box is legal.

Q: If I want more light, can I upgrade to higher output bulbs or headlights?

A: Only if you choose your bulbs wisely. Bulbs that produce more light by simply putting higher wattage filaments into the bulb can cause major damage to your lighting system, even without a Brite Box installed. The reason is that the higher wattage filaments draw a lot more electrical current than the stock bulbs. This in turn can overload switches, wiring and/or headlight components. The only safe way to get more light without potential overloads is to use high tech bulbs that produce more light output with the same electrical draw as stock bulbs. These bulbs accomplish this with advanced bulb construction techniques. Some bulbs that fit this criteria are "Sylvania Silverstar" and "PIAA Platinum".

Q: How do brighter bulbs (without Brite Box installed) compare to using a Brite Box with standard bulbs?

A: There is really no comparison. Honestly speaking the only advantage the brighter bulbs have over the Brite Box setup will be a slightly brighter low beam. The reason is that Brite Box does not affect (either negatively or positively) "low beam only" performance. Therefore the brighter bulbs will put out a little more light on low beam. When the high beams are engaged, the story changes. Yes, the brighter bulbs also produce more high beam light than stock - BUT the beam pattern does not cover the area directly in front of the vehicle. With Brite Box, there is an even carpet of light from directly in front of your vehicle to the farthest reach of the high beams. What would you rather have - A slightly brighter INFERIOR beam pattern (without Brite Box), or an even carpet of light that reaches from near to far. Remember, you can always upgrade to high tech bulbs with a Brite Box to maximize your headlight performance.

On the Rubicons all you have to do is find the Fog relay and put a peice of plastic infront of the arm to stop it from making contact. Did it to my Rubi the night I got it.
