I was just checking out the Nitro on Dodge's website and noticed it came with the 210 horsepower 3.7L V6, or a 255 horsepower 4.0L V6. Is this 4.0 just a bored out 3.7? I couldn't find any specs. |

It doesn't look like it's based off the 3.7. It looks like it's a 3.5 stroked from 3.78 X 3.19 to 3.78 X 3.58 with the compression raised from 9.9:1 to 10.3:1. There was talk about making a 4.0 V6 a couple years ago based off the 3.5, so it looks like it wasn't just rumors. I've been trying to decide if I should have the nitrous injected 3.7 race block rebuilt, or squeeze in a 4.7 HO. I'll have to consider dropping in one of these 4.0's now too. |

What's the torque? Not interested in how many ponies but more interested in the stength of those ponies. |

Here's a bunch of info on it. I'm going to have to check into connecting it to the 45RFE. I need to check measurements, motor mounts, and computer issues too. Getting the 3.7 block built that's sitting in my garage still looks like the way I'll go. http://www.allpar.com/SUVs/dodge/nitro.html http://www.allpar.com/mopar/new6.html |

The stupid 2006 Rav4 has 269hp@6200 and 246ft@4700 lbs or torque. I know the torque is lower than the HP, which is stupid, but still. Even though it revs very high, it has alot more power than the kj. It does the quarter mile in 15 flat and 0-60 in 6.4. It also gets 21/28mpg. Thats right up there with the crd. |

4700 rmp for max torque works in a car but not a truck/ SUV, I suspect the RAV 4 doesn't have near the tow capacity. If all you want is an AWD sation that's fine. |

You can actually just play around with the transmission and gears to get the Liberty to accelerate and tow much better. If you have the 45RFE or 5-45RFE transmission, you can replace the torque converter with a built one from APS. This will loose only 12% of the power to the ground instead of the stock 20% for the auto, or 15% for a stock manual. This will do the same thing as adding 8% more power to the motor, so it's like having 228 hp and 255 lbs of torque. You won't actually be making that much power, but you will get the same result to the ground compared to stock. Going from 3.73 gears to 4.10 gears will make it make more torque at lower RPMs. If you do 4.10s only, it will feel like you went from 210 hp to 191 hp, but it will feel like you went from 235 ftlbs to 258 ftlbs of torque. Combine the torque converter and gears, and it feels like 207 hp and 280 ftlbs of torque. Add a good exhaust, a drop in filter, and have B&G flash your computer, and everyone will swear you've squeezed a V8 under the hood. |

How many libbys have the 45rfe though? Ohh, kjfishman, our libby gets its torque at 4200rpm, not much less. I hit those rpms about once a week. I try to aim for 3k max when driving. |
