Is it possible to get the torque of a V8 out of Libby's V6 engine? IF so how can it be done? I strongly feel that she is extremely under powered (in my opinion)

You could re-gear the front and rear differentials to 4.11 gears. That would help. Not sure of engine mods though...

Kenne bell had a supercharger available but they discountued it due to low sales. You could try a air intake, exhaust, and headers. That could help the torque of the engine. Or swap in a diesel.

Not only low sales but the rings sit to high on the piston and can cause damage or something like that.

Isn't it 4.10 gears, the same ones available in the 4cyl KJ??

Exhaust, headers, K&N intake, regear. It will be a totally different jeep if you did that.

Yep. Regear, Intake, Muffler, Cats, Headers, boar the throttle body.

Do the mods listed in my signature and everyone will swear you've squeezed a V8 in it.

not too hijack the tread but that is one sexy hood KY Liberty. I'm going to do the intake, exhaust this fall. I'm looking to get the off the line torque that I lost with the bigger tires.

Your biggest difference will be with this

B&G Chrysler PCM
Transgo shiftkit
4.10 gearing

Yeah, 4.10. I've owned enough vehicles to mess with my memory now on what gear ratio went with what vehicle... :)

You have got some serious coin and man hours invested in that Liberty and it looks great! Looks like it's an early, early '02 so it's a "pre-lowered" KJ in addition to having the 45RFE HD transmission as well - very nice. 8)

If you want low end torque most of the mods previously listed won't help you much. Air intakes and exhaust pipes typically make mid to upper rpm range horsepower (not torque). Air intakes sometime even decrease low end torque. Gear it 4.10 and do the transmission work and I believe you'll get your power back and more.

BTW, I've been using my LM-1 Wideband tuner on the liberty and have learned that the fuel system is optimal. 14.7 at normal driving and 12.8 under full throttle and its a very consistant, steady line on the graph.

Awesome, thanks I will have to see what I can do and let you know what I got.

The best way to get V8 torque in a Liberty - is to put a Diesel in it :D :D :D :D :D

putting a diesel in it is one way, but also the most time consuming and more importantly would cost a good bit of $$$$$$!!! getting V8 torque out of a V6 without a turbo or supercharger is unrealistic, but to get more i would chip it and regear!!

why do you need more torque? Are pulling a trailor or boat? Or do just wanna crawl over rocks or thru mud better? Because Lockers make the Liberty a whole different Monster!!!!

Do they make a turbo for a V6?? If so where can I find one!

Oh I just want it to be able to crawl alot better then it does now.Image

Turbo would not be a good choice for low end torque. They take time to spool up. I would do a procharger. Would not be too hard to make fit our application, just the most expensive part would be pistons and rods (est. $1000). So here would be a list of parts needed to procharge a liberty.

Procharger -
custom pistons - $400-800
custom rods - $400-800
Custom Brackets - $25-100
Custom Intake & Intercooler Plumbing - $25-500
Spare Pulley
B&G Chrysler Reflashed PCM - $450
Intercooler - Included w/ procharger

Obviously you'd need the procharger unit itself. The custom rods are need to handle the boost and additional power, you might aswell upgrade these since they will be removed to install the upgraded pistons. Pistons are needed to handle boost, our stock pistons have the rings sit to high and causes the boost to slip past them and fries your rings. I would suggest have pistons made w/ a lower compression to help with detanation. Brackets will be needed to bolt the procharger on to the engine. If you have basic machining skills you can fab up your own. Same thing w/ the intercooler and intake plumbing. If you have half a brain and a pipe bender you can do this yourself. The reflashed ecu will adjust your a/f ratio to run smoothly on boost. The intercool should come w/ your procharger kit. What this does is take the air that gets compressed and also heated from the friction inside the procharger and cools it down. This will need custom brackets to support it, pretty easy to make. The spare pulled would need to be welded to the stock crank pulley to a belt that turns the procharger.

Sorry it's late i'm bored, will reread in the morning and fix any errors or typos. I'm sure there are a lot.
